With her performance tonight, Fisher became the first in RMU history to record 1,000-plus career kills (1,031) and 1,500-plus career digs (1,504). Robert Morris (6-5) put together a six-point run to an early 9-3 lead in set four, but Youngstown State (6-5) responded with the next five points to cut the Colonials lead to one. Back-to-back kills from Penguins sophomore Sarah Varcolla helped YSU knot the frame at 13, and the night-long trend of back and forth action continued.
The Colonials led by as many as three points late in the fourth set, but the Penguins continued to push points. Robert Morris went ahead, 22-19, but Youngstown State earned the next four points to go up by one. RMU tied the set on a kill from Krivoniak, but YSU captured the next two points on consecutive kills and secured the set and the 3-1 victory.
RMU displayed great resilience in set two, as they fell behind early, 8-1, but never backed down. The Colonials used a 5-2 run to cut the Penguins' lead to six, and continued to chip away at the visitors' lead throughout the set. As Robert Morris trailed, 24-20, a kill from Harlow sparked a six-point spurt that helped the Colonials claim set two, 26-24.
RMU remains local this weekend when the Colonials cap the preseason tournament portion of the 2016 schedule at the Panther Challenge, hosted by the University of Pittsburgh.
