Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University men's soccer team saw its four-match unbeaten streak snapped to close a two-game home stand as the Colonials fell to Fairleigh Dickinson, 1-0, this afternoon in Northeast Conference (NEC) play from the North Athletic Complex.
Robert Morris (2-8-3, 1-1-1 NEC) was held off the scoresheet for the first time this season, ending a 12-match run that saw at least one Colonial goal. That stretch fell two games shy of matching a 14-game run with at least one goal, which was the program's previous longest streak.
Fairleigh Dickinson (8-4-1, 2-2-0 NEC) held the majority of possession in the first half, rewarding itself with the game's only goal in the 11th minute. Diego Arribas played a corner kick into the middle of the box, connecting with Jamie Leddy for a header past Winter Fondi.
RMU had its fair share of chances in the second half to equalize. Jake Cooper forced Jahmail White into a save in the 57th minute, and four minutes later Keane McIvor narrowly missed the head of Zac Sherman on a free kick. In the 64th minute, Sherman nearly connected with Owen Pearce on a cross, but it was also just out of reach.
The Colonials' last gasp came with 1:29 remaining when Cooper's attempt skirted wide of the netting.
Fondi made a season-high 10 saves in the defeat.
Robert Morris heads to the Big Apple for a pair of games next weekend, starting with a primetime matchup on Friday, Oct. 20 at 7:00 p.m. against St. Francis Brooklyn.
