EJ, RMU Edged in Goalie Duel

Milne-Price Continues Inspiring Senior Season in Defeat

PITTSBURGH -- Senior goaltender Elijah Milne-Price stayed atop her game with 23 saves, but the No. 9 Robert Morris women's hockey team was knocked off theirs by a commendable defensive effort from College Hockey America (CHA) rival Mercyhurst in a 1-0 final at the RMU Island Sports Center Friday night.

Milne-Price lowered her goals-against average to 1.54 and continues to lead the conference in that category, the only blemish on an otherwise clean sheet coming midway through the second period on a 5-on-3 goal deflected in by Alexa Vasko. Her GAA also ranks fourth in the nation among netminders with at least ten starts.

The erstwhile CHA Goalie of the Month also bumped up her save percentage to .929 on the campaign, retaking the CHA lead. Defensively, the Colonials have allowed just 31 goals overall, putting them ninth in Division I.

Kennedy Blair stole the win from Milne-Price with 31 saves. This was the 13th time this season RMU outshot its opponent, with Blair robbing Brittany Howard with under seven minutes left in regulation to preserve the shutout.

Howard sits on 71 career goals, needing just three more to surpass former teammate Rebecca Vint and add all-time program goals leader to a collegiate resume that already has her as its career points leader.

She and Milne-Price joined the rest of her teammates for the first of two "Skate with the Colonials" nights afterward, affording fans of all ages the opportunity to mingle with the team. The second of those games will take place Jan. 26 versus Penn State, during Skate for a Cure weekend.

Meanwhile, Friday was a homecoming for Mercyhurst assistant coach Kelley Steadman, who served as director of women's hockey operations at RMU for two seasons prior to 2017-18. Previously, Steadman served the Colonials for one season as a volunteer assistant.

Robert Morris (10-3-2, 4-1-2) seeks revenge on the Lakers (4-9-2, 3-1-1) Saturday afternoon at Colonials Arena at 5:05 p.m.

Members of the Robert Morris men's hockey team will be at the front doors for one hour prior to faceoff to collect non-perishable food items for the West Hills Food Pantry of Moon Township.

All youth hockey players who come to Saturday's game in their team jerseys are eligible for $1.00 admission.

Fans can call 412-397-4949 or visit rmutickets.com for tickets.
