Sachs Game-Winner Lifts Robert Morris Past Wagner

Staten Island, NY - Robert Morris University women's lacrosse moves to 2-0 in Northeast Conference play following the Colonials fifth-consecutive win, a 15-14 barn-burner at Wagner College.

Freshman Annie Sachs scored a free-position goal with 1:07 remaining to grab victory for RMU. Sachs scored four goals, as did junior Dana Davis who racked up six points with a pair of assists. Freshman Mackenzie Gandy scored a hat trick as well, adding an assist for four points. Sophomore Maggie Stella fired in two goals, while senior Katie Breeze added one, with freshman Meghan Crouse recording a goal and an assist.
 
Robert Morris scored the opening goal and never trailed in a tight contest with Wagner. Davis scored four goals in the first half, helping the Colonials to a 9-7 halftime lead. With RMU up 10-7, Wagner scored three straight goals to tie the game 10-10. The teams traded goals the rest of the way, with Robert Morris earning the go-ahead goal from Sachs with 67 seconds remaining.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Katelyn Miller made eight saves, five coming in the first half. Defensively, the Colonials were strong, causing 17 turnovers and battling for 24 ground balls. Senior Megan Wolfgang and freshman Meghan Crouse each collecting five ground balls and caused three turnovers, with Crouse winning three draw controls to go with her goal and assist.

Sachs led the Colonials in draw controls with four, also racking up a trio of both ground balls and caused turnovers. Davis also earned a pair of draw controls and caused turnovers along with a ground ball and Breeze added two ground balls and a draw control to her one-goal game as well.

Kerri Sayrafe and Alexis Rusnak each also picked up a pair of ground balls, while Rusnak added a caused turnover. Amanda Harrington also picked up a caused turnover and won two draw controls.
