Pittsburgh, Pa. – Despite a second half equalizer by Rafael Bruzual, the Robert Morris University men's soccer team fell to Pitt this evening, 2-1, in non-conference action from Ambrose Urbanic Field.
Robert Morris (0-7-1, 0-0-0 NEC) avoided the clean sheet with a goal in the 55th minute and continued its streak of scoring in every match this season, but gave up goals to Pitt (3-4-0, 0-2-0 ACC) in the eighth and 56th minutes in the defeat.
Colin Brezniak opened the scoring early by knocking home a pinball in the box. An assist was credited to Edward Kizza on the Panthers goal.
Bruzual tallied his first of the season 10 minutes into the second half to make it 1-1. Roald Aas Ravlum sent in a cross from the right corner, connecting with the head of the senior forward in the box to provide the equalizer.
That momentum would be short-lived, however, as Joshua Gaspari buried a left-footed strike from just outside the box a minute later to regain the lead for the hosts.
Winter Fondi made six saves in the loss.
Robert Morris returns home on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1:00 p.m. for its second meeting with a Steel City foe as it hosts Duquesne.
