Oxford, Ohio – The
Robert Morris University softball team finished play at the Miami University Invitational Sunday with a 14-0 loss to #19 Michigan and a 10-1 setback against Dayton. The Colonials sit at 6-20 on the season.
The Wolverines' Sarah Schaefer spun a no-hitter against the Colonials, improving to 2-3 on the season. She struck out six batters to while keeping the RMU offense in check. Three Michigan batters – Faith Canfield, Madison Uden and Haley Hoogenraad – had multiple hit games with Hoogenraad going 3-for-4. Uden had four RBIs, including a two-run homer in the first inning. Taylor Swearingen also had a two-run shot in the opening frame.
Against Dayton in the second game of the afternoon, the Colonials committed four errors leading to eight unearned runs for the Flyers. RMU had five hits in the game, including the sixth double of the season for
Natalie Higgins.
Olivia Lorusso was responsible for knocking in the lone run for Robert Morris in the fourth inning.
The Flyers scored three times in the first inning and posted seven runs in the third en route to the victory. Manda Cash took the win in the circle as she went three innings, striking out four and allowing three hits. Lisa Tassi was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in.
The Colonials are scheduled to travel to Canisius for a 2:00 p.m. game against the Golden Griffins next Sunday, March 25.
