Women's Lacrosse Falls at Ohio State

Columbus, Ohio - Robert Morris University women's lacrosse dropped its final non-conference game of the 2018 season as Ohio State pulled away in the second half to top the Colonials 7-3.

Robert Morris took the first lead of the game, 13:13 in, when junior Shannon Lynch tossed the ball into the back of the net off a feed from Clio Kerr to give the Colonials a 1-0 lead.

Ohio State tied the game with a goal from McKayla Conti with 14:36 to play in the half. Both the Colonials and Buckeyes were held off the board for much of the first half, thanks to solid goaltending on both sides.

Baley Parrott put the Buckeyes ahead on a free position shot with 6:36 to play in the half to cap the first half scoring at 2-1, Ohio State with the advantage.

Sophomore Katelyn Miller made 8 saves in the first half. Robert Morris collected 12 ground balls and 5 caused turnovers in the opening thirty minutes.

Less than 2:00 into the second half, Ohio State widened their lead. Conti scored her second of the game on a free position shot to make it 3-1 Buckeyes with 28:12 to play.

OSU extended its lead to 5-1 before the Colonials tallied in the second half. Junior Kerri Sayrafe scored the first of her two goals off a feed from Kelley Flynn to cut the Buckeyes lead to three, making it 5-2 with 15:28 to play.

Ohio State pushed its lead back to four before Sayrafe came back with her second of the game, this time assisted by Meghan Crouse, pulling the Colonials back within three.

But RMU wouldn't score again. OSU goalkeeper Jill Rizzo staved off late RMU attempts and the Buckeyes fired in one more to cap the scoring 7-3.

Miller finished with 9 saves & collected 6 ground balls. RMU posted nine caused turnovers, led by Sophia Eureka with four and Dana Davis with three. The Colonials collected 21 ground balls with 11 players recording at least one.

Crouse finished with two ground balls and two draw controls. Thalia Zolis had two ground balls, a caused turnover and a draw control.

Robert Morris (4-6) is off from game action until April 6th when it opens Northeast Conference play against Wagner in a 3:00 p.m. contest at Joe Walton Stadium.
