Brianne Morgan Memorial Locker Room
Thanks to the generous support from alumni and friends of the program, we've reached our fundraising goal to build the Brianne Morgan Memorial Locker Room. This will be the first time in the RMU softball program's 28-year history that they have had their own locker room. The new facility will be located inside the Student Recreation and Fitness Center in the North Athletic Complex.
Â
The locker room will be named in honor of Brianne Morgan, an outstanding individual who played softball for Robert Morris in the late 90s before her tragic passing just days after playing in the 1998 NCAA tournament. Her legacy has been honored through a scholarship that bears her name and is awarded to softball players who show academic promise. Now, in addition to that, we'll be able to memorialize her by naming the new locker room in her honor.
Â
An anonymous donor was gracious enough to match a fundraising gift of $7,500 and the University is proud to announce that goal has been surpassed and the locker room will become a reality.
Â
Her legacy will be honored in one more way. Morgan was the leading hitter on the 1998 NEC Championship squad, a two-time All-NEC selection and a Regional All-America pick. Saturday, her number 44 jersey will be retired – and will be the first to hang forever on the outfield fence.
