Robert Morris Announces 2019 Slate

Colonials to open at UPMC Events Center August 30 vs. Manhattan

Moon Township, Pa. – Four tournaments, including the RMU Sheraton Invitational at the UPMC Events Center to open the 2019 season, and the addition of Merrimack to the Northeast Conference slate highlight the 2019 Robert Morris University volleyball schedule.

The Colonials will open their 2019 campaign with the first NCAA Division I competition at the UPMC Events Center by hosting Manhattan at Noon Friday, August 30, as part of the RMU Sheraton Invitational. RMU will also face Elon the same day at 7:00 p.m. and will close the tournament Saturday, August 31, at 5:00 p.m. against McNeese Stae.

The first road action of the 2019 season for Robert Morris comes Friday, Sept. 6, against Idaho State at 5:00 p.m. in Kent, Ohio, as part of the Golden Flashes Classic. RMU will also take on Valparaiso (Sept. 7) and host Kent State (Sept. 7) as part of the tournament.

The Colonials return to the UPMC Events Center Tuesday, Sept. 10, to take on Duquesne before wrapping up non-conference action with a pair of tournaments.

Robert Morris will take part in the Henson's Hawk Invitational (Sept. 13-14), which is hosted by Maryland-Eastern Shore, and the Youngstown State Invitational (Sept. 20-27). Non-conference opponents during those tournaments include Hampton, Central Michigan and Eastern Illinois.

Robert Morris christens NEC play with a home match against Merrimack, the newest member of the conference, Friday, Sept. 27, at 7:00 p.m. before a two-game road trip through New England that includes contests against Bryant (Oct. 4) and Sacred Heart (Oct. 5).

The rest of the NEC slate for the Colonials in 2019 includes a three-match homestand in October as well as a four-match home stretch in November. Senior Night concludes the stretch of four consecutive home matches for Robert Morris and is slated for Saturday, Nov. 9, with a 5:00 p.m. match against St. Francis Brooklyn.

Led by head coach Dale Starr, who enters his 10th season as head coach at RMU in 2019, the Colonials return 12 letterwinners in 2019, including junior Emma Granger, who was named to the 2018 All-NEC First Team. In earning her second consecutive first team nod, Granger led Robert Morris in kills (286), attack percentage (.292), service aces (53) and blocks (103) last season.
