PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's hockey team lost 6-3 to No. 18 Bowling Green Tuesday evening at Clearview Arena, dropping them to 3-2 overall on the season.
Despite an early lead, Robert Morris surrendered three power play goals to the Falcons while going 0-8 on the man advantage themselves in the loss.
The Colonials could not have asked for a better start, scoring twice in the opening 3:39 of the first period off a pair of dazzling individual efforts.
Randy Hernandez picked up where he left off Saturday, intercepting a pass at his own defensive blue line before pulling away from two Bowling Green defenders on a rush through the neutral zone, finishing it off with a beautiful backhand-forehand deke on Eric Dop to make it 1-0.
Justin Addamo doubled the lead just 13 seconds later, finishing off a beautiful Jordan Timmons feed through the slot over Dop's shoulder to make it a two goal lead for RMU.
Despite three solid kills through the first 17 minutes, a fourth RMU penalty proved costly as BGSU cut the lead down to one with a power-play goal from Cameron Wright.
A five minute major on Addamo put the Colonials in a bind once again, and once again the lethal Flacons man-advantage made them pay, evening it up at two a piece with under a minute to play in the first.
Though they escaped the Addamo major without sustaining further damage, BGSU enjoyed an extended shift in the offensive zone immediately following the kill, eventually making it 3-2 courtesy of a Brandon Kruse writer from the slot.
The Falcons got rolling after making it a 4-2 game, however RMU continued to battle.
Roman Kraemer cut it back to 4-3 with his first of the year, taking advantage of a turnover in the neutral zone before ripping a beautiful shot coming down the wing top shelf over Dop.
A third PP goal from BGSU at the midway mark of the third frame iced it away for the Falcons.

QUOTABLES
"We didn't win a period tonight. To deserve to win the game, you've got to win a period and we didn't, we tied the first and then lost the second and third. We battled and competed and didn't quit, but they've got nine seniors, they've got a lot of experience and that showed a little bit tonight." - Head Coach Derek Schooley
