- The RMU men's basketball team looks to jump start its 2020-21 season Friday by returning to action with a 6:00 p.m. tip against Bowling Green at the UPMC Events Center. It will mark the first game for the Colonials in almost two weeks.

- The Colonials opened their 45th season of NCAA Division I basketball by earning a 75-57 victory over Point Park (12/5/20) at the UPMC Events Center. RMU posted 17 assists on its 31 field goals, recorded nine steals and notched seven blocks in the win.

AJ Bramah led three scorers in double figures in the win over the Pioneers with 18 points while also grabbing seven rebounds. He shot 8-for-15 from the field and was perfect on his two attempts at the free-throw line.

Olisa Ngonadi established career highs in points (13), rebounds (8) and blocks (3) in the victory over Point Park (12/5/20), while junior guard
Dante Treacy finished with 12 points and three assists.

- RMU improved to 21-24 (.467) all-time in season openers with the triumph over Point Park (12/5/20), including a mark of 4-7 (.364) under 11th-year RMU Pat Gallagher Head Coach

- Led by Toole, the Colonials return three starters and five letterwinners from a 2019-20 team that finished with an overall record of 20-14 (.588), including a mark of 13-5 (.722) in the Northeast Conference (NEC).

- The Colonials return 49.5 percent (1,175-of-2,373) of their scoring, 49.4 percent (564-of-1,141) of their rebounding and 66.5 percent (374-of-562) of their assists from the 2019-20 season.

- RMU joined the Horizon League in 10 of its 16 intercollegiate programs in July of 2020, and the Colonials were picked to finish fourth in the 2020 Horizon League Preseason Poll. The poll was conducted by Horizon League head coaches, communication professionals and select members of the media.

AJ Bramah was named to the 2020-21 Preseason All-Horizon League Second Team. In 33 games for the Colonials in 2019-20, Bramah averaged 13.4 points and a team-high 8.2 rebounds per contest while shooting 56.9 percent (173-for-304) from the floor. He also finished second for RMU in blocks (16).

Jon Williams owns the RMU school record for consecutive starts, as he enters Friday's game against Bowling Green having started each of his 103 career games. He owns 406 career assists, which ranks 11th all-time in program history.

- The Colonials are slated to open their first season in the Horizon League with a pair of road games. RMU will travel to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to take on Purdue-Fort Wayne Saturday, Dec. 26, and Sunday, Dec. 27, in a two-game series.

No. 1,000 Take Two (or Three, Four and Five) - Friday's game against Bowling Green marks the 1,000th broadcast for
Chris Shovlin, the Voice of the Colonials, on the microphone for RMU men's basketball. Shovlin began his career with the Colonials Nov. 28, 1987, when RMU dropped a 96-70 decision to Pitt at the Fitzgerald Field House. He has called each of the last six appearances for RMU in the NCAA Tournament, which would have been seven in March before the 2020 NCAA Tournament was canceled due to the global pandemic. Shovlin, a native of Midland, Pa., has also called each of RMU's three appearances in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and five games in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT).

AJ Bramah picked up right where he left off from the 2019-20 campaign in RMU's season opener against Point Park (12/5/20), pacing the Colonials in scoring with 18 points in a 75-57 victory. He also added seven rebounds and shot 8-for-15 from the floor. Bramah enters Friday's game against Bowling Green having scored in double figures in 29 of his last 30 games dating back to last season, including six consecutive games.

Trayden Williams combined for 14 assists in the win over the Pioneers but more importantly committed just one turnover.
Trayden Williams led the way with six dimes off the bench for RMU. Jon Williams is coming off a junior season in 2019-20 in which he ranked second in the Northeast Conference (NEC) in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.30), while Treacy ranked third (2.25) in the same category.

The List Grows - Guard
Enoch Cheeks became the 11th true freshman in program history to be a member of the starting lineup in their collegiate debut at RMU, as he finished with four points, four rebounds and two blocks in a 75-57 victory over Point (12/5/20) at the UPMC Events Center. Of the 11 rookies to earn a start in their collegiate debut with the Colonials, seven have come under RMU Pat Gallagher Head Coach
Andrew Toole. Cheeks joins a list that includes Yann Charles (2010), Elijah Minnie (2014),
Matty McConnell (2015), Braden Burke (2016),
Jon Williams (2017) and
Koby Thomas (2017). Also earning starts in their first collegiate games in the history of RMU basketball were Forest Grant (1980), Keith Jones (1995), Jeremy Chappell (2005) and Jonathan Clark (2005).

Converting - Dating to the 2018-19 season, the Colonials have won 11 consecutive games when converting at least 50 percent of their shots from the field. Overall in 11 seasons under RMU Pat Gallagher Head Coach
