Robert Morris Hit-A-Thon Returns In 2020

Fundraiser to benefit Connor's Cure to take place all season

Moon Township, Pa. – For the second consecutive year, the Robert Morris University softball team will host Connor's Cure Hit-A-Thon, a season-long fundraising event to help raise money to help conquer pediatric cancer and to benefit Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

"We're extremely excited to continue our work with Connor's Cure this season," head coach Jexx Varner said. "It's important to continue to help bring awareness and support for the fight against pediatric cancer. We know the continuous support from our community can help us meet our lofty goals this season to raise money for this important cause."

Robert Morris will host its Connor's Cure game Saturday, April 25, with a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson at the North Athletic Complex. The Colonials will also be auctioning off a customized Connor's Cure glove, with all proceeds going to fight pediatric cancer.

Connor's Cure was created in honor of eight-year old Connor Michalek, who battled medulloblastoma, a rare tumor that affects the brain and spinal cord. Connor was from Shaler Township, Pa., and passed away in April of 2014. WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon and her husband, WWE Executive Vice President Paul Levesque, established Connor's Cure as a fund within Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation to support pediatric brain and spinal cord research. In 2016, WWE and the V Foundation announced a partnership to support pediatric cancer research nationally through funds raised by Connor's Cure.

The Hit-A-Thon provides two options to help raise money for Connor's Cure. One is to pledge a certain amount of money per statistical category for the 2020 season, or make a flat donation. All donations are tax deductible. To donate, please use the links associated with this article.
