Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU volleyball team wrapped a three-match road trip through the Midwest Sunday, falling to UIC, 3-0, in Chicago, Ill., at the Flames Athletic Center. The Colonials fall to 9-12 (.429) overall on the 2021 season, including 2-7 (.222) in the Horizon League.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
The host Flames earned a 25-11 victory in the opening set on the strength of a .625 hitting percentage, providing 16 kills against just one error in 24 total attempts. Paola Santiago, who recorded a match-high 15 kills, finished with eight in the first set and provided nine kills before an attack error. Overall she finished with a .545 attack percentage as UIC (10-10 / 6-2 #HLVB) finished at .439 as a team in the victory. In addition to the 15 kills from Santiago, Mikala Henderson contributed 10 kills, three digs and a .529 hitting percentage.
THE SECOND SET
The second set between the Flames and Colonials featured eight ties and a lead change, with RMU grabbing an early 6-4 lead after consecutive kills from middle blocker

Alyssa Hudak provided one of her team-high seven kills on the match to give the Colonials an 11-9 advantage. The Colonials were able to keep that two point cushion, 17-15, after a kill from outside hitter
Abby Ryan, and another kill from Granger made it 21-19 in favor of RMU. The Flames, however, scored the next four points to grab a 23-21 advantage, and Martina Delucchi sealed the win, 25-22, with a kill off a feed from Sohila Wafeek.
PERFECTION
Hudak tied for team-high honors in scoring with eight and-a-half points Sunday, joining Granger, and became the third member of the Colonials to not record an attack error in three days during the road trip. Hudak posted seven kills on 13 total attempts for a .538 hitting percentage and contributed a solo block and block assist. Granger finished with six kills and a .333 attack percentage, while Ryan chipped in five kills and a pair of digs.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
As a team RMU finished with a .192 hitting percentage and finished with 20 digs. Junior
Allena Carmody finished with seven digs to pace RMU, while freshman
Ashleigh Wallin dished out a team-high 15 assists. Granger led the Colonials during the road trip, compiling 22 kills, a .462 attack percentage and five total blocks. Hudak added 15 kills and a .316 hitting percentage.

RMU returns home to the UPMC Events Center to host Wright State Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 6:00 p.m. before embarking on a five-match road trip.
