Moon Township, Pa. – Junior Keturah Hunter of the track & field team claimed the first weekly honor of her RMU career Tuesday, as she was named the Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week.

Hunter, a native of Florence, S.C., was honored for her performance last weekend as the Colonials opened their 2021 outdoor season at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. She claimed the individual championship in the hammer throw, posting a throw of 55.09 meters (180'9"), which sits atop the Horizon League leaderboard.

Just the third student-athlete in program history for the Colonials to unleash a toss of 180 feet or more, the distance is tied for eighth in the RMU outdoor record book.

Hunter has already made an impact at RMU in her first semester with the Colonials. She was named the 2021 Horizon League champion in the weight throw during the indoor season, posting a toss of 18.77 meters (61'7") that established a new school record in the event. The previous mark had stood for 16 years.

Led by first-year head coach Bryan Delsite, the Colonials travel to Morgantown, W.Va., for their next competition, taking part in the Mountaineer Classic Friday, April 2, at The Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park.
