Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU volleyball and men's soccer programs were the top academic performers for the Colonials during the 2020-21 academic year and Thursday were awarded the Horizon League Raise Your Sights School Award.
The Horizon League awards the top male and female team in the league among member institutions, based on combined team grade point average (GPA), each academic year. Earning the Horizon League Raise Your Sights Award as the top programs were the women's golf program from Green Bay, which recorded a 3.96 team GPA during the 2020-21 academic year, and men's golf at Purdue Fort Wayne, which finished with a 3.73 team GPA.
The RMU volleyball program notched a team GPA of 3.837 in 2020-21, the best mark among intercollegiate programs for the Colonials during the academic year. Men's soccer finished with the top team GPA among Horizon League men's programs for the Colonials at 3.431.
During the 2020-21 academic year, student-athletes from RMU athletic programs combined to record a 3.504 department GPA, an .028 increase from 2019-20.
