PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's soccer team fell in an afternoon matchup against the Milwaukee Panthers 2-1 at the North Athletic Complex Saturday, dropping their record to 1-5 overall on the season.
Tom Akinola scored his first career goal in the loss.
Charlie Lawrence managed the first quality look of the day when the freshman was assessed a free kick on the edge of the box, however he lashed his effort just high off the crossbar.
Nathaniel David fired another effort high minutes later, however Milwaukee managed to crack the stalemate first when Gabe Anguil cut into the box and slotted a nice feed to Paolo Gratton who slipped the effort inside the near post.
A few more close calls for RMU including one from Nathaniel David inside the six yard box failed to produce a goal as RMU went into the half down 1-0.
Milwaukee tacked a second on two minutes into the new half, however RMU continued to press.
Another dangerous free kick from Gal Ben Dayan sailed high, while Mike Zolnierczyk was tested with a few big stops at the other end.
Akinola managed to cut the deficit to one in the 86' after a service into the box bounced around and found him waiting near the goal line, however it was too little too late as RMU fell 2-1.
