Panthers Clip Colonials at Home

RMU Volleyball Recap (10/21/22)

Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU volleyball team fell to Milwaukee at home by a score of 3-0. The Colonials overall record is now 8-15 (.348) during the 2022 season, and 1-10 (.090) in the Horizon League.
 
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Beginning the night, in the first set, the Colonials kept the score tight. There were nine different times the set was tied. With the score at 3-3, Milwaukee got up to 6-3. RMU rallied back and took a 9-8 lead. In that buildup, Alyssa Hudak, Page Gross and Kaitlyn Brown all earned a kill while the away side made five different attack errors. The Colonials kept it close to a score of 13-15, but the Panthers pulled ahead winning the first set 25-17.
 
In the second set, RMU trailed 12-20 but began a comeback. Emma Brown with a spike made it 13-20. Alyssa Hudak produced another kill making the score 15-23 and then Ally Christman began her domination. The sophomore outside hitter earned a kill and then got two service aces back-to-back pulling the Colonials within four. Unfortunately, the Panthers scored on their set point winning the set 25-20.
 
The third set finished with Milwaukee winning 25-17, but RMU kept it close until the end. There were four different times the set was tied. Abby Ryan and Alyssa Hudak scored five and four kills, respectfully.
 
Overall, junior outside hitter Abby Ryan earned another double-double with 12 digs and 11 kills. Ally Christman served five aces, and Kaitlyn Brown added another 29 assists. Since becoming the main setter for the team six games ago, she's averaged 25.83 assists per game.
 
MILESTONE WATCH
Allena Carmody is looking to become the second student-athlete for the Colonials to join the RMU 1,000 Dig-Club in as many years. Carmody after tonight's match owns 998 career digs making her just two away. She can surpass this mark tomorrow against Green Bay. With 350 digs this season, she's collected more digs than her career best 326 digs from last season. Abby Ryan now at 403 career digs officially hit the 400 milestone after playing Milwaukee. Kaitlyn Brown with her 29 assists, has set up over 400 kills this season. She sits at 415 assists now. Senior Alyssa Hudak posted seven kills tonight making her just three away from 800 career kills. She can reach the milestone tomorrow against Green Bay.
 
UP NEXT
RMU plays another home game tomorrow against Green Bay at 4 p.m. (10/22). Tomorrow's game will be a 'Pink Out' to raise awareness for breast cancer research.
