Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Youngstown State on Senior Day at the North Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
The Colonials end the season with a 7-7-4 overall record and a 1-7-2 mark in Horizon League action. The seven wins is the most since the 2015 campaign. Meanwhile, the Penguins improve to 7-7-3 overall behind a 5-3-2 mark in conference play.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Youngstown State opened the game with five-consecutive corner kicks and a shot but the Colonial defense held them scoreless. Robert Morris responded with three shots and two corner kicks over a nine-minute span. At the 22:23 mark, junior
Haleigh Finale found the back of the net to give the Colonials an early 1-0 lead. Both teams combined for two shots and two corner kicks before YSU fired back-to-back shots at the net that were saved by goalkeeper
Isabella Bohlen. Robert Morris looked to stretch its lead before the half as senior
Gabriella Lecuona put a shot off the crossbar in the 44th minute.
In the second half, the Penguins came out firing as they knotted the score in the 51st minute, when Elis Spindola found the left side of the net. Just over three minutes later, Spindola gave YSU the lead with a bending shot from 18 yards out, 2-1. The two programs continued to have opportunities as they combined for five shots and two corner kicks over the next eight minutes. The Colonials looked to answer in the 65th minute as freshman
Renae Mohrbacher put a shot off the woodwork. YSU extended its lead when Spindola capped off her hat trick at the 70:14 mark.

In the 23rd minute, the Colonials were out and running when senior
Gabriella Lecuona dribbled up the left side of the box and placed a pass to the feet of Finale, who found the back of the net for Robert Morris. That was Finales' team leading fifth goal of the season and Lecuonas fourth assist of the year.
