Can You Dig It?
 
 - After a three-game homestand at the UPMC Events Center, the RMU volleyball team heads back out on the road to Youngstown, Ohio, to face the Penguins on Friday, Oct. 7, at 6:00 p.m.

- Danny Doherty is in his first full season leading the Colonials after being named head coach on Dec. 31, 2021. He served as interim head coach for the final four matches of the 2021 campaign.

- RMU and YSU are both seeking to earn their second Horizon League victory. The Colonials won their first against Purdue Fort Wayne (9/30) at the UPMC Events Center. The Colonials eight aces proved to be a big difference, as well as junior outside hitter Abby Ryan earning 16 kills. Graduate student Alyssa Hudak produced 12 kills and six blocks.  

- The Colonials continue to top the Horizon League in service aces, posting an average of 1.83 per set. RMU owns 128 aces in 70 sets.

- Individually, sophomore setter Ashleigh Wallin ranks seventh in the Horizon League with an average of 5.17 assists per set. In just 66 sets she has 341 assists.

- Senior Allena Carmody went into last week's homestand ranked seventh in the Horizon League in digs per set. She's now ranked sixth in the conference with 4.10 digs per set. With her 30-dig performance against IUPUI (10/1) she now has the fifth highest digs in a game this season in the Horizon League. She's RMU's active career leader with 935 digs.

- Upon completion of their match in Youngstown, the Colonials continue their road trip for three more games to Wright State (10/13), Northern Kentucky (10/14) and Cleveland State (10/18).

The All-Time Series (YSU) – Friday's matchup between the Colonials and Penguins marks the 42nd in the all-time series, with Youngstown State owning a 33-8 (.786) advantage. In the past three matches, RMU has won two, including a split of the 2021 season series. Dating back to March of 2021, junior Abby Ryan has produced success against the Penguins with 26 kills in three games. Sophomore setter Ashleigh Wallin in the past two meetups has 62 assists.
 
Milestone Watch – Outside hitter Abby Ryan is looking to eclipse 500 kills in her career as a Colonial. She enters RMU's tilt @ Youngstown State with 499 kills to her credit and is just one away from the milestone. Setter Kaitlyn Brown already has 298 assists as a freshman and is two away from reaching 300 assists. Overall, the RMU volleyball team comes into Friday's game with 986 total digs. They average 14.09 digs per set and can reach 1,000 digs on the season in their match against the Penguins.
