Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU volleyball team almost completes the reverse sweep at Youngstown State, dropping a 3-2 decision. The Colonials now stand 8-11 (.421) overall during the 2022 season, including 1-6 (.143) in the Horizon League.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
After two close sets to start the game, the Colonials picked up momentum in the third set. RMU blazed ahead to begin the set 9-3. Junior outside hitter

Annie Monaco both produced two kills each. This forced the Penguins to call a timeout. After the break, the action remained even as the score became 24-24.
Annie Monaco would continue to be clutch earning a kill to make it 25-24 and with a service error by YSU, the Colonials won the set 26-24. In the fourth set, both sides largest lead was four points. RMU held a 23-19 lead towards the end. It would be
Abby Ryan once again earning two kills to send the match to five sets.
Annie Monaco earned a double-double today, with 15 kills and 11 digs. Her consistency on the offense and defense played a huge role towards the end of sets. RMU's final point or second to last point during a set was done by Monaco four times out of five sets.
MILESTONE ACHIEVEMENTS
After today's tilt,
Abby Ryan now has 519 kills. She tied her career high best today with 20 kills at YSU. Leading the team in attacks with 59 tonight, her constant pressure on offense helped bring RMU back into the game. Ryan now has 46 kills in four games against the Penguins in her career.
Freshman setter
Kaitlyn Brown came in with 298 assists and left with 335. Just as a freshman, she's already reached the 300-assist club.
Senior libero
Allena Carmody continues to shine on the back line for the Colonials, and Saturday against the Penguins was no exception. She posted 21 digs and also provided seven assists. Carmody's path to 1,000 career digs will continue during the next three away games. She enters with 956 going into next match. She'll become the 14
th member of the RMU 1,000-Dig Club.
The Colonials now have over 1,000 digs on the season as a team, with 1,054 on the season.
CLOSE ENCOUNTERS
A total of 12 of RMU's 28 sets against #HLVB opposition have been decided by three points or less, including two more Saturday against the Penguins. RMU dropped the opener, 25-22, and won the third set 26-24.
The Colonials continued their success in service aces with seven more in Youngstown. They remain on top of the Horizon League, posting an average of 1.81 per set.

RMU will continue their road swing next week at Wright State (10/13) and Northern Kentucky (10/14). They conclude the road trip against Cleveland State (10/18). All games to be played at 6 p.m.
