Can You Dig It?
  • RMU Volleyball ends their season with two home games against Wright State (11/11) and Northern Kentucky (11/12).
  • The Colonials will look to earn their third Horizon League victory this season. They won their first against Purdue Fort Wayne (9/30) and second at IUPUI (10/28).
  • Danny Doherty is in his first full season leading the Colonials after being named head coach on Dec. 31, 2021. He served as interim head coach for the final four matches of the 2021 campaign.
  • Under Doherty, the team has proven to win games when going to five sets. In five games this season going to five sets, the Colonials are 4-1 while outscoring opponents 69-54. In the fourth set, RMU is outpacing opponents 392-378.
  • As a whole, the team owns 1,499 total digs in the 2022 season.
  • Libero Allena Carmody has played in every set for the Colonials this year (106).

The All-Time Series (WSU) – The Colonials on Friday will be looking for their first win in history against the Raiders. In four career games against the Raiders, libero Allena Carmody owns 31 digs. Across those four games, Abby Ryan and Alyssa Hudak have paced 27 and 26 kills, respectfully. Last match vs. Wright State (10/13/22), sophomore Ally Christman defended well with 12 digs.
 
The All-Time Series (NKU) – In team history, RMU is 1-4 all-time against Northern Kentucky. In four career games against the Norse, Carmody holds 36 digs. Junior outside hitter Abby Ryan has provided 32 digs and 25 kills in her matches vs. NKU. The veteran Hudak has produced 35 kills and nine block assists in this series. Junior outside hitter Annie Monaco has scored 19 kills and 12 digs in three matches playing the Norse. Last match at NKU (10/14/22), freshman setter Kaitlyn Brown assisted 14 times and also helped defensively with 14 digs.
 
Milestone Watch – Coming into this weekend, Annie Monaco owns 185 kills and 181 digs, closing in on 200 in both categories. She also has 381 career kills and 379 career digs. Sophomore right side hitter Ally Christman is two away from 150 kills this year. Defensive specialist Jaiden Hockman currently holds 139 career digs. Close to a big milestone is Kaitlyn Brown, coming into the weekend with 598 assists. She produced a single game career high, 16 digs last match vs. Youngstown State (11/4). Ashleigh Wallin goes into the final weekend of the season with 977 career assists. Abby Ryan is coming off a career high 61 attacks in one match vs. YSU (11/4). The outside hitter has posted 635 career kills. Junior Emma Brown owns 249 career kills. She's produced 114 this season and is seven away from beating her production from the 2021 regular season.
 
Upon The Horizon – Carmody remains ranking sixth in the conference in digs per set (3.97). The libero's 21 digs vs. Oakland (11/1) tied the fourth most digs in a three-set match. In a four-set match, she possesses the second most digs with 30 vs. IUPUI (10/1). Among the power hitters, Abby Ryan is sixth in kills per set (3.26). In four-set matches, Ryan is tied for the fourth and sixth best number of kills. She produced 21 at Purdue Fort-Wayne (10/29), and 19 vs. The Citadel (9/17). Ally Christman is also tied for third most kills in a three-set match, pacing 19 vs. N.C. Central (9/16).
 
Quad Aces – RMU ranks fourth in service aces in the Horizon League this season, scoring 165 in 106 sets (1.56 average per set). The Colonials have four players ranked in the top 13 in service aces per set: 5th – Christman (.38), 8th – Wallin (.35), 9th – Monaco (.33), 13th – Carmody (.25). Monaco's six aces vs. Oakland (9/20) is the most aces scored in a four-set match in the conference. Christman's five aces vs. Milwaukee (10/21) is the third most aces in a three-set match this season.
 
Smackdown – Alyssa Hudak, Emma Brown and Page Gross lead the team in total blocks. Hudak owns 185 career blocks, Brown boasts 139 blocks and sophomore Page Gross holds 60. In 2022, Brown is at 60 blocks and Gross owns 46. In Horizon League play, Gross owns the third most blocks in a four-set match, posting seven vs. The Citadel (9/17).
 
Star Setters – Kaitlyn Brown and Ashleigh Wallin are both in the top 10 in assists across the Horizon League. Brown is ranked fifth, averaging 5.7 assists per set. Wallin sits at tenth, averaging 5.17. Impressively, as a setter, Brown has managed to score 54 kills, 20 service aces and 222 digs along with her 598 assists. In 66 sets played, Wallin added 111 digs to her resume.
 
Senior Saturday – After Saturday's match against the Norse, RMU Athletics and the volleyball team will be honoring fifth-year senior Alyssa Hudak. Hudak has worn the #9 for the Colonials since she was a freshman in 2018. Currently in her career, she owns 830 kills, 267 digs and 185 total blocks.
