Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU track & field team opened its 2022 outdoor campaign Saturday, competing at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational at Gesling Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa.
COMPACT DISC
Fifth-year
Yessie Valencia, fresh off a
Horizon League indoor championship in the weight throw, opened her final outdoor campaign Saturday by winning the discus. She uncorked a throw of 49.97 meters (163'11") to claim gold and also extend her Gesling Stadium record, which she set in the same meet last year with a toss of 47.67 meters (156'5"). That mark also finished first, marking back-to-back years Valencia won the discus at the CMU Invitational. Valencia also competed in the shot put for RMU Saturday, finishing fourth thanks to a toss of 12.15 meters (39'10.50").
