Colonials Compete for MAC Championship Title

#2 RMU will face the #1 seeded CMU Chippewas for the MAC Crown

Mount Pleasant, Mich.  – After an outstanding win over Youngstown State, the Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team has moved onto the final game of the 2022 MAC Women's Lacrosse Championships. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at the CSU Lacrosse Stadium in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Saturday will mark the seventh time that RMU has played CMU since joining the MAC in 2021.
This will be the second time that RMU and CMU have played in the last two weeks. In their most recent meeting, a tight game was ended with a go-ahead goal by Central Michigan with 15 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Win the win, the Chippewas handed RMU their first ever loss as a member of the MAC conference.

Scouting the Chippewas
Sara Tisdale is in her sixth season with Central Michigan and is the first head coach in the history of the program. Since 2019, Walton as cumulated a 53-54 record with the program.
 
Senior Maggie Diebold leads CMU with 60 goal in 18 games on the season, netting three against RMU in their last meeting. Junior Erin Owens has been starting in net this season, playing 662:17 minutes and holding a 12.05 GAA and a .397 save percentage.
 
Fresh as It Gets
RMU's leading scorer is freshman Jenna Irwin. The Liverpool, N.Y. native currently leads the Colonials with 33 goals and 37 points, riding a 14-game point streak. She is the first freshman to lead the Robert Morris team in scoring since Annie Sachs in 2017. Additionally, Irwin is lethal on the free-position shot, making 13 of her 16 attempts this season. This accuracy places her first in the nation in terms of FP%.

Only the Best
According to the national NCAA statistics, RMU's Madison Griffin is ranked fifth in the nation in CTO's per game (2.5) and is currently tied for second in the nation for ground balls per game (3.34). She leads both categories for the MAC. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Jamie Keller ranks 50th in the NCAA in save percentage (.503) and 40th in saves per game.

Consistency is Key
Colleen TifftJerica Obee, and Julia Koterwas all managed to extend their goal streaks in the victory. Tifft finished the day with four goals, while Obee and Koterwas earned two. Tifft owns the high-water mark at 13 games while Obee hit 12 and Koterwas 10.

Six of a Kind

Six members of the RMU women's lacrosse team earned all-conference honors. Jamie Keller was named Goalkeeper of the Year by the MAC, while Madison Griffin collected the Defender of the Year title. Jenna Irwin, Keller and Griffin all earned a place on the All-MAC First Team. Additionally, juniors Colleen Tifft, Jordan Anderson and Jerica Obee all made it on the All-MAC Second-Team.
