Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU volleyball team opened play in the Fairfield Inn and Suites Dunn Campbell Invitational Friday in Buies Creek, N.C., splitting a pair of 3-0 decisions. The Colonials opened the day by extending their winning streak to six with a triumph over North Carolina Central before falling to the host Camels to close out action. RMU has posted an overall record of 7-4 (.636) on the 2022 season.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
For the first time during the 2022 season the Colonials earned a 3-0 victory, turning the trick thanks to a season-high .273 attack percentage against North Carolina Central (1-7). In the opening set, RMU used a 10-4 surge to turn a 2-2 tie into a 12-6 advantage to help set the tone. Sophomore
Ally Christman provided three kills during the salvo, which was part of another solid effort by the outside hitter. She launched a match-high 19 kills in the victory while posting just three errors in 38 total attempts to post a .421 attack percentage while also recording seven digs, an assist and a service ace.
DUOLINGO

Alyssa Hudak provided the power from the other against the Eagles. She posted an efficient hitting percentage of .556 thanks to 11 kills in 18 chances while suffering just one error. She also added three blocks for the Colonials, teaming with junior middle
Emma Brown on each occasion. Hudak provided five kills in each of the final two sets, posting an .833 hitting percentage in the second set as RMU earned a 25-23 victory. The second featured nine ties and three lead changes, with the final tie coming at 23-23. Christman provided the final three kills in the set, including two on feeds from sophomore
Ashleigh Wallin and the final from rookie
Kaitlyn Brown.

RMU's best set came in the third, as the Colonials hit .444 in jumping out to an 11-1 lead. Wallin posted a pair of service aces in an opening surge that saw RMU score the first five points, while junior
Abby Ryan and senior
Allena Carmody each notched kills. Leading, 20-10, Wallin also ignited the final surge with a kill as the Colonials scored four of the final five points of the match, which also featured two kills each from Christman and Hudak.

A TALE OF TWO MATCHES
Tied, 16-16, in the first set, the host Camels used a 6-2 burst to grab a 22-18 lead. Ryan provided a kill and Emily Mitter was whistled for a bad set to help the Colonials close to within 22-20, but Campbell was able to secure a 25-21 win as Mitter fed Melody Paige for a strike and Gwen Wolkow for the set-winner. The second was also tied, 10-10, before Campbell (3-7) posted an 11-2 run to open up a 21-12 cushion en route to the win. RMU couldn't find its groove offensively, finishing with an attack percentage of .141.
VOLLEYBALL HISTORY FOR 800, ALEX
Carmody finished with a team-high 15 digs against the Camels, helping her eclipse 800 for career. She entered play this weekend sitting at 783 career digs and notched 12 in the 3-0 win over North Carolina Central before her performance against the Camels. She will enter the final non-conference match of the 2022 season Saturday for RMU with a career tally of 810 digs.
