RMU Plays to Draw Against PFW

Colonials stay unbeaten in Horizon League play; RMU totals 12 shots

Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University men's soccer team stays unbeaten in Horizon League action after playing to a 0-0 draw against Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday afternoon at the North Athletic Complex.

With the tie, the Colonials stand at 3-3-1 overall behind a 2-0-1 mark in league play. Meanwhile, the Mastodons sit at 1-5-3 this season with a 0-1-2 record in conference action. Robert Morris played its second-straight home game for the first time this season.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
The Colonials controlled the pace in the opening 10 minutes as they recorded three corner kicks and two shots on goal. After an offside call against Robert Morris, Keith Larson registered the first shot on goal for the Mastodons that was shaved by sophomore keeper Friedrich Petrelli. Petrelli tallied two more saves in the opening half as the two teams went into halftime scoreless.

In the second half, both teams came out peppering the net as they both recoded two shots apiece in the first nine minutes. Junior Chase Gilley had an opportunity in the 54th minute as his shot to the bottom left was saved by Danny Salazar. Robert Morris continued to pressure the net as sophomore Charlie Lawrence and freshman Anass Hadran each recorded a shot on goal, but were unfortunately saved by Salazar. The Colonials defense was stellar in the second frame as they held Purdue Fort Wayne to one shot on goal, that came at the 77:17-mark. In the 84th minute, Robert Morris threaten to break the scoring drought after junior Hugo Kadima got into open field and put a rocket on goal that was saved nicely by Salazar.

ON THE OFFENSIVE
Robert Morris sprayed shots at the net all afternoon as it has outshot their opponent three out of the last four contests. Chase Gilled paced the Colonials with two shots on goal, while Kadima, Hadran, Lawrence, and sophomore Noé Bijou tallied a shot at the net.

QUOTABLE
"Another highly contested Horizon League match. Credit to Purdue Fort Wayne today as they made things difficult," head coach Jason O'Keefe said. "We will grow from thee experiences. Now we need to recover and get ready to go to defending league champs home field (Oakland)."
