Cincinnati, OH. – The Robert Morris University men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss at Xavier in non-conference action on Sunday night at Corcoran Field.
With the loss, the Colonials fall to 0-3-0 this season, while the Musketeers improve to 3-0-1 overall. Xavier has now won the last two meetings between the programs.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
In the first half, Xavier go on the board first when Bernal de la Garza took a pass from Eli Dulle and beat the keeper in the 16th minute, 1-0. The Colonials looked to respond in the 19th minute when freshman
Anass Hadran saw his shot hit off the post, keeping it a one score game.
Xavier extended its lead at the 26:40-mark when Jerome Jolly beat a defender on the ride side of the box and put a shot between the goalkeepers' legs, 2-0. Robert Morris kept pressing for an equalizer as sophomore
Connor Hain put a shot on goal that was unfortunately saved by keeper Cole Jensen. The Musketeers held an 8-3 shot advantage, while both teams tallied two shots on goal in the first half.
After a corner kick by the Colonials to begin the second half, Xavier recorded four shots and a corner kick over the next four minutes. Robert Morris looked to cut into the deficit in the 57th minute when junior
Chase Gilley put a shot on goal that was saved by Jensen. After a Colonial miscue, Xavier was able to add on to their lead when de la Garcia recorded his second goal of the contest, 3-0.
The Musketeers had a shot bounce off the post before sophomore
Gabe Norris saw his shot sail over the crossbar at the 75:47-mark.
