Moon Township, Pa. – In Horizon League action, the Colonials fell 71-54 at Green Bay. The Colonials are now 8-11 (.421) overall, and 2-8 (.200) in conference action.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Off to a good start, the Colonials gained an 8-5 lead as
Phoenix Gedeon scored six points early in the first quarter. Depth scoring was on display for RMU, as all the starters contributed points in the first period. After 10 minutes, RMU held the lead over the Phoenix, 20-19.
In the second quarter, both teams tightened up defensively. At the media timeout, the Colonials remained ahead 25-24 as both programs scored five points each across the first five minutes. RMU continued to succeed, shooting from distance. Sophomore's
Rebecca Dwomoh and Mastral added some three-point baskets, as well as freshman
Louella Allana. In conclusion, after 20 minutes of play, Green Bay got in front 36-32.
Determined to get a win on the road, Dwomoh completed a three-point play to start the second half, followed by
Simone Morris scoring a basket and a trey swished by Mastral. Going up 40-39, the Phoenix went on an 11-2 run in the middle of the quarter. RMU answered back to come within eight points at the end of the period, 55-47.
In the final frame, Green Bay locked it up and went on a 16-7 run over 10 minutes of play. Green Bay (15-4) would go onto win 71-54 at home.

Leading the team in points for a fourth straight game was sophomore
Phoenix Gedeon. She also earned the most rebounds with seven, and the most steals with four. Dwomoh posted 11 points today at Green Bay. Mastral scored nine points, all coming from behind the arc. She went 3-for-6 (.500) on the day from distance. Mastral also moved the ball around well, contributing a team high six assists.
As a team, the Colonials scored 13 points off turnovers, compared to the Phoenix's 12. RMU also had seven points off fast breaks and Green Bay only had two. Making a big difference in the end was Green Bay's ability to out rebound RMU, 39-26. Green Bay also scored 42 points in the paint, while RMU only scored 18.
UP NEXT
The Colonials return home for two games next week. On Thursday, Jan. 26, they take on Northern Kentucky at 7:00 p.m. After that, on Saturday, Jan. 28, they'll face Wright State who they previously beat at 1:00 p.m. Both games will be played at the UPMC Events Center.
