Opening Tip
- The Colonials (7-7) are in the midst of a three-game road trip, staying in Michigan but heading out to Detroit to face Mercy (2-12). After facing the other Michigan team in the country, RMU will travel south back down to Ohio to face Youngstown State (1/12) to finish their road trip.
- Last time out, RMU dropped a loss at Oakland (1/5), 71-59. The Colonials coming in off the road held the lead after the first quarter, 18-14. The second period made the difference as the Golden Grizzlies outscored the Colonials 22-8.
- Sophomore Phoenix Gedeon recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
- Spanish guard Alejandra Mastral tied a career high 12 points and also dished out four assists, tying a single game high.
- Shooting 5-for-12 from the field, Rebecca Dwomoh posted 11 points for RMU against Oakland.
- Before the New Year, RMU lost two conference games at home vs. Purdue Fort Wayne (12/29) and against Cleveland State (12/31).
- Against Cleveland State, Gedeon was two rebounds shy of a double-double scoring 14 points. Simone Morris was one rebound shy as she put up a career high 15 points against the Vikings. Sophomore Danielle Vuletich collected a career best eight rebounds.

The All-Time Series (Detroit) – Both sides never faced off until Robert Morris joined the Horizon League in 2020. RMU won both games against Detroit in the 2021-22 season. The first game between the two programs was in Detroit. The Colonials won 55-46 (11/18/21). Later on, this past season, the Colonials hosted Mercy winning 68-56 (1/30/22). Sophomore guard
Alejandra Mastral has shown success against this team, as she's produced 19 total points in two games. She scored a career high 12 points against the Mercy the first time these two teams met.

Scouting Detroit Mercy – Overall, the team sits in last place currently in the Horizon League standings. They're 0-5 in conference games and 2-12 overall. Detroit is on a six-game skid, as they've lost to Georgia Southern, Michigan State, Indiana State, Milwaukee, Green Bay and Youngstown State. Detroit's top player is forward Irene Murua. She started and played in all 14 games for the Mercy, and leads the team in minutes played with over 400 going into Saturday's tip off. Murua, a native of Arrasate, Spain is shooting 48.1% from the field this season. She averages 10.6 points per game and 8.8 caroms a night. Detroit have used 14 players during the 2022-23 campaign, and have started eight different players throughout the season. Another Spanish forward, Emma Trawally Porta, leads the team in blocks with 26.

The Colonials remain first in three-point defense (23.8) in the conference. They're ranked seventh in the country in that category. Their turnover margin of 5.5 is first in the Horizon and 25
th out of all D1 women's basketball. RMU's average of 13.3 rebounds per game is standing third throughout the conference.

Phoenix Gedeon has remained towards the top of the leaderboards all season. She's ranked fourth in rebounds per game (8.4), seventh in points per game (13.7), and seventh in field goal percentage (.387). Junior point guard

Charlie Buscaglia, the Colonials have gone back to attacking the basket in recent games. Vital in this success has been the guards facilitating the offense well to forwards

Simone Morris. Last game at Oakland (1/5) the Colonials scored 40 points in the paint, which is the most they've scored all season against a Division 1 opponent. Against Cleveland State (12/31) RMU put in 26 in the crease and also scored 28 in the paint vs. St. Bonaventure (12/16).

Across the Horizon League, Gedeon is third in double-double performances this season. Lindsey Duvall of Northern Kentucky has eight double-double's, Lilly Ritz of Youngstown State has seven, and Gedeon has five. The Canadian forward has helped propel the offense substantially this year. In seven games, Gedeon has been the leading scorer and on eight different occasions collected the most rebounds for the Colonials. She's now produced a double-double against Waynesburg (11/12), at Wright State (12/2), vs. St. Bonaventure (12/16), Purdue Fort Wayne (12/29) and at Oakland (1/5). In three of the last four games Gedeon has posted a double-double.
