Opening Faceoff
  • The Robert Morris University men's hockey team will be hosting their second Atlantic Hockey conference series of the season. The first game will be played on Friday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Clearview Arena inside the RMU Island Sports Center. The following day will be game two of the series with a puck drop scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
  • Last time out, the Colonials earned two points in their series against Holy Cross. The first game finished in a 1-3 loss. For game two, RMU picked up the extra point in the game, winning the shootout after it was a 3-3 tie after 65 minutes of play.
  • In the series, Tanner Klimpke recorded two goals and an assist. On a three-game point streak, Klimpke has heated up in conference play, pacing for two goals and two assists in the last three outings.
  • Graduate forward Logan Ganie was a key player for the Colonials in the series, producing an assist in both games. From Irma, Alberta, he is currently on a four-game point streak dating back to the game at Bowling Green (10/8).
  • Freshman Jackson Reineke scored his first career goal and point against Holy Cross.
  • Alternate Captain Luke Johnson, a graduate transfer from Providence, provided the game-tying goal for RMU on the power play. It was his first point in an RMU uniform.
  • Freshman forward McKay Hayes added two assists in game two of the series. It was his first career multi-point effort. He owns two goals and two assists in the campaign to date.
  • RMU currently sits in fifth place in the AHA conference.
  • Heading into the 2023-24 season, the staff brought in 16 freshmen which is the largest group of first-year players in the NCAA.
  • The team also features many veterans, as there are nine graduates. In total, the roster is set to 29 student-athletes.
  • In RMU's most recent season back in 2020-21, the Colonials finished 15-9-0 overall and were 10-5-0 in the AHA. Qualifying for the playoffs, RMU faced Niagara in the quarterfinal round, playing a best-of-three series. They won the first game in overtime, 3-2 but then fell to Niagara the next two games.

The All-Time Series vs. Bentley – Since the inaugural campaign back in 2004-05, the Colonials have faced off against the Falcons 39 times. RMU holds the edge in the series with an all-time record of 19-16-4. Six total games between the two sides have gone to overtime and RMU has shut out Bentley on three occasions. In the first meeting, Bentley won 4-2 on October 29 of 2004. The next day, RMU won 3-1 to earn their first victory against the opposing program. The Colonials are currently riding a six-game win streak against the Falcons. Four of those wins came in Waltham, Mass. RMU is outscoring Bentley, 22-10 in the past six games. Overall, across the 39 games, the Colonials have outscored the Falcons, 114-98.
 
Scouting the Falcons – Bentley is currently riding a two-game win streak beating Stonehill 2-0 and 4-1. On the year, they're 2-2-0 overall and will play their first conference game of the season at RMU this weekend. Offensively, Ethan Leyh is the team's leading point producer, owning one goal and three assists through four games. Freshman forward Kolby Amici has cashed in twice so far, leading Bentley in goals. Leyh along with his teammates Ethan Harrison and Nick Bochen all have the best +/- in their program with a +3. Harrison has also scored the squads only shorthanded goal in the campaign. Between the posts, senior Nicholas Grabko and sophomore Connor Hasley have split time in net. As both have played in two games, Hasley owns a 1.46 G.A.A. and .940 save percentage. Grabko has paced for a 3.00 G.A.A. and .885 save percentage. Their goalie tandem each have a record of 1-1-0.
