Opening Faceoff
- The RMU men's hockey team will travel north to Buffalo to take on Canisius for one game before the Thanksgiving break. The game will be played on Tuesday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m.
- Last time out, the Colonials played a two-game series with Niagara, losing the first game in New York, 2-6 and then 1-4 at home the following day.
- For the first game of the set, defenseman Cade Townend sniped in a shorthanded goal and later on assisted Tanner Klimpke on his team leading fourth goal of the campaign. This was Townend's first multipoint effort of the season.
- Gavin Gulash won a team-high eight faceoffs on the night and Cameron Hebert and Dallas Tulik both won seven each.
- Tanner Klimpke and Tom Gangl both finished with a +1.
- Back at Clearview Arena for the most recent match, George Krotiris netted his first career goal off an assist by Dallas Tulik and Michael Craig.
- RMU led in shots, 25-18. Niagara's 18 shots are the fewest shots on goal allowed in one game by the Colonials this season.
- The Colonials held the edge in the faceoff circle, winning 35 of 61 draws. Alternate captain Dallas Tulik was almost perfect from the dot, winning nine of 10. Logan Ganie won his team possession on nine of 17 faceoffs and freshman Charles Merkley won eight of 12 faceoff chances.
- Defenseman Michael Craig and forward George Krotiris both finished with a +1 on the night.
- In a previous series against Bentley (10/27), goaltender Chad Veltri helped RMU win 4-3 by registering a career-high 51 saves.
- In week one of the season, Veltri was tabbed Goaltender of the Week by the AHA.
- Heading into the 2023-24 season, the staff brought in 16 freshmen which is the largest group of first-year players in the NCAA.
- The team also features many veterans as there are nine graduates. In total, the roster is set to 29 student-athletes.
- In RMU's most recent season back in 2020-21, the Colonials finished 15-9-0 and were 10-5-0 in the AHA. The program qualified for the playoffs, facing Niagara in the quarterfinal round.

The All-Time Series vs. Canisius – Since the program started, the Colonials have gathered a 22-11-4 overall record against the Golden Griffins. Canisius was the very first opponent RMU faced in their inaugural season back in 2004-05. Head coach
Derek Schooley won his first game behind the bench, coaching his squad to a 3-1 victory on home ice. RMU women's hockey head coach Logan Bittle earned an assist on the Colonials first ever goal in program history in that game. Their most impressive stretch of play against the opposing program happened between 2011 to 2015, as RMU put together an 11-2-1 stretch against Canisius, including a five-game win streak. On home ice, the Colonials are 12-3-1 and 8-8-3 in Buffalo. Across the last 10 matchups, RMU is 6-3-1. Scouting the Golden Griffins – Canisius is coming off a historic season, winning the AHA title in 2022-23. The Golden Griffins finished with a 20-19-3 overall record and were 13-10-3 in conference games. On the way to the title game, they beat Army and Niagara in a best-of-three series and then took down Holy Cross, 3-0 in the Championship game. Qualifying for the NCAA Playoff Tournament, they fell to No. 1 Minnesota, 2-9 in the first round.

10 games into the current campaign, the Golden Griffins are 2-7-1 overall and 2-3-1 in AHA play. They played one series against a ranked opponent, visiting No. 8 Michigan State, losing 3-6 and 3-4. Individually, freshman Matteo Giampa is leading the squad in goals, assists and points (6-6—12). Graduate forward Erik Urbank has the best +/- with a +4. Defensively, senior Powell Connor owns the most blocks (20). In net, time has been split between goaltenders David Fessenden and Ethan Robertson. Fessenden has started six games, holding a 3.59 G.A.A. and .885 save percentage. Starting in four games, Robertson owns a 3.68 G.A.A. and .894 save percentage. Both netminders have earned one win each.
