Nashville, Tenn. – The RMU women's hockey team fell to Boston University on their first night of the Smashville Showcase, 1-3. The Colonials are now 7-8-0 overall on the year and the Terriers move up to 6-6-1 in the 2023-24 campaign.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Early into the game, both sides tested each other's goalie, throwing two shots on goal.
Emma Gorski on RMU's team made both saves as well as Alexa Matses for Boston University.
Nine minutes in, the Colonials earned a power play opportunity. After posting two shots, the Terriers went down the other end and scored a shorthanded goal to begin the scoring.
With four minutes left, Christina Vote tapped in Boston's second goal of the game. Followed up by her score, Ella Huntley registered another score for the Terriers, 27 seconds later.
Entering the middle frame, RMU registered 12 shots on goal while BU put up 11, all being saved by
Maggie Hatch.
Pushing for the comeback, the Colonials got back on the power play with a little over a minute left in the period. The first unit created chances immediately and were successful with their third shot on goal.

RMU continued to try and claw back in the third period, outshooting BU, 11-9.
The score would remain the same, as Boston pulled out the victory, winning 3-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Five different skaters peppered four shots on goal for the Colonials.
Jersey Phillips continued her success in the faceoff circle, winning 10 of 15 draws on the night.
Shailynn Snow was also over 50% on faceoffs (5-8). Defensively,
Wasyn Rice and Chloé Puddifant each blocked a team-high two shots. Hatch stepped in making 22 saves in 40 minutes, not allowing a goal.
MILESTONE REACHED
On RMU's goal, graduate defenseman Chloé Puddifant reached 50 points in her collegiate career. She leads all blue liners on RMU in points with one goal and seven assists. From Calgary, Alberty, Puddifant has recorded seven goals and 43 assists in her career.

The Colonials will return back to the Ford Ice Center Bellevue for their second game of the Smashville Showcase tournament tomorrow. They'll take on Mankato at 5:00 p.m. ET.
