- The RMU softball team concludes a five-game road trip by returning to Horizon League play in Green Bay, Wisc., with a three-game series at King Park against Green Bay. The series was altered and will open Friday with a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader before a single game Saturday, March 25, with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch. Weather pending this time of year.

- The Colonials opened their road swing by dropping a non-conference doubleheader to Akron at Lee R. Jackson Field in Akron, Ohio. RMU fell in the opener, 2-1, before dropping a 13-4 decision in game two.

- Sophomore Anna Resnik is hitting .333 (8-for-24) in true road games for RMU this season, tying for team-high honors in runs (6) with senior Avery Winchell and sophomore Alaina Koutsogiani while also owning four RBI. Thanks to four walks while getting hit by a pair of pitches, Resnik enters Friday's doubleheader against Green Bay leading the Colonials in on-base percentage (.467) on the road.

- The Colonials opened both the home portion of their 2023 schedule as well as their Horizon League slate by splitting a doubleheader with Detroit Mercy (3/16) at the North Athletic Complex. RMU earned a 7-0 win in game one before falling, 2-0, in the nightcap. The two programs tried to get the third game of the series in on St. Patrick's Day, but inclement weather suspended the game in the bottom of the second.

- The Colonials posted a season-high 10 hits in their 7-0 win over the Titans as each of RMU's nine starters safely reached base. Recording multi-hit efforts were senior Avery Winchell and juniors Charlotte Grover and Catalina Saxen, as each went 2-for-4 at the dish.

- Fifth-year Dana Vatakis faced just two batters over the minimum in a 7-0 triumph over UDM, allowing four hits and striking out four. She improved to 3-6 and got a huge boost late from the defense, as the Colonials posted a pair of double plays.

- RMU wrapped up its non-conference tournament slate by posting a 3-1 (.750) record at the Tennessee Tech Tournament. The Colonials split a pair of games with Ohio, including a 4-3 win, while earning a pair of 12-3 victories, both in five innings, over the host Golden Eagles.

- Redshirt sophomore Meadow Sacadura hit .455 (5-for-11) with three runs, a double and five RBI in the Tennessee Tech Tournament. Her RBI single in the top of the seventh helped the Colonials earn a 4-3 win over Ohio after the Bobcats had tied the contest, 3-3, in the bottom of the sixth.

- RMU returns five starters from a 2022 squad that finished with an overall record of 31-21 (.596), including a ledger in the Horizon League of 16-9 (.640). The Colonials advanced to the championship game of the 2022 #HLSB Tournament in posting its first 30-win season since 2013.

- The Colonials are led by head coach Jexx Varner, who is in his fifth season at the helm of the program. He has posted a record of 87-101 (.463) but since joining the Horizon League RMU has notched an overall record of 65-53 (.551), including a mark of 37-24 (.607) in league play.

- In a poll of Horizon League head coaches, the Colonials were picked to finish second in the league in 2023. Oakland was tabbed as the favorite and received eight first-place votes in accruing 77 points, while RMU earned a first-place tally and compiled 68 points.

- RMU opens a seven-game homestand at the North Athletic Complex after taking on Green Bay this weekend. The first four of those are non-conference tilts, including a three-game series with Kent State Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2.

The All-Time Series (Green Bay) –
Green Bay enters the three-game series with the Colonials this weekend at Kings Park owning a 6-3 (.667) advantage in the all-time series. In the first meeting between the two programs at Kings Park in 2021, the Phoenix took three of four, with RMU earning a 6-5 win in the series finale. The first meeting between the two programs came in Kissimmee, Fla., in the final game of the Orlando Rebel Games (3/15) for the Colonials in 2008. In that contest RMU earned a 3-2 win behind a complete game from former pitcher Lindsey Moates (2008-09), who allowed five hits and struck in three in the win.

Forward March – Sophomore Anna Resnik has broken out of an early-season slump in a big way in recent weeks, as she enters RMU's three-game series @ Green Bay having reached base safely in nine consecutive games. During that stretch Resnik has recorded a .391/.548/.609 slash line with 14 total bases, eight runs and seven RBI. Resnik leads the Horizon League in times hit by a pitch (5) and is also tied for seventh in both runs (12) and walks (10) while ranking 10th in on-base percentage (.394).

Did You Know? RMU head coach Jexx Varner has penciled in Avery Winchell (1B), Anna Resnik (2B), Charlotte Grover (SS) and Alaina Koutsogiani (3B) as his starting infield in each of RMU's 22 games during the 2023 season. That pushes the streak for consecutive starts for the quartet to 28 games dating back to last season. Grover is RMU's active leader for consecutive starting assignments, as she has started each of RMU's last 84 games at shortstop since April of 2021.

Dynamic Duo – RMU's Avery Winchell and Green Bay's Jadin Justman are the only two players in the Horizon League to rank in the top 10 in both runs and RBI. Winchell, who has reached base safely in each of her last eight games, is tied for fifth in runs (13) and tied for ninth in RBI (11). Justman, meanwhile, is tied for fourth in RBI (13) and tied for seventh in runs (12). Over her last eight games, Winchell is hitting .318 (7-for-22) with a pair of doubles, five runs and six RBI.

Local Flavor – Of the 20 student-athletes that make up the 2023 roster for RMU, half played their prep ball in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL). That total includes transfer Courtney Poulich, who spent her freshman season at Liberty in 2022 but claimed both WPIAL and Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class AAA championships at Mount Pleasant in 2021. Poulich is one of six student-athletes that played in the WPIAL on RMU's 2023 roster that hail from Westmoreland County.
