Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-10 decision against UC Davis on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Joe Walton Stadium.
With the loss, the Colonials slip to 2-6 overall this season. Meanwhile, the Aggies improve to 6-3 overall this year.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
UC Davis opened the scoring at the 13:16 mark before junior
Gia Anthony got RMU on the board with her sixth goal of the season. The Aggies would respond with a women-down goal off a free-position shot to regain the lead. Senior
Colleen Tifft found the back of the net to knot the score at 2-2 with 5:27 remaining in the quarter. After UC Davis netted a score, sophomore
Chelsea Coleman took a feed from classmate
Jenna Irwin and beat goalkeeper Ashley Laing as it was tied 3-3 after the opening frame. The Aggies would open the second quarter with four straight goals to grab its largest lead of the half, 7-3. Tifft would end the scoring drought for the Colonials as she found the back of the for the second time in the half, trimming the UC Davis advantage 7-4.
In the second half, the Aggies would tack on two more scores to begin the third quarter before sophomore
Jenna Irwin netted her first goal of the contest. Later in the quarter, RMU would take advantage of the women-up opportunity as senior
Jordan Anderson found junior
Lilli Hadden for the score, 11-6. UC Davis would grab its largest lead of the afternoon after netting three consecutive scores to end the third quarter and take a 14-6 lead into the final frame.
KEEP ON FIGHTING
The Colonials wouldn't go down without a fight in the fourth quarter as they scored four consecutive times to trim the Aggies advantage. Anthony would start the streak with her second goal of the afternoon before Anderson netted her first goal of the game just 33 second later. Anthony would then capture her hat trick after finding the back of the net at the 8:54 mark, 15-9 UC Davis. The two squads would go just under four minutes without a score before Irwin tallied her second score of the afternoon, trimming the Aggies lead 15-10.

RMU used a pair of goalkeepers against the Aggies on Sunday in graduate student
Jamie Keller and sophomore
Sydney Riker. Keller started the contest and collected four saves on 35 total shots, with 26 coming on goal. Riker played just under 20 minutes for the Colonials and carded a season-high five saves on 13 total shots faced. The sophomore also posted a .455 saves percentage on the afternoon.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Six different Colonials netted a score, led by
Gia Anthony with three points, all coming from a hat trick. It's the fourth time in her career she has recorded a hat trick.
Jenna Irwin posted three points on the afternoon, netting two scores and tallied an assist while grabbing five ground balls and causing two turnovers.
Colleen Tifft scored a pair of goals while winning a team-high four draw controls and snatching two ground balls.
Jordan Anderson,
Lilli Hadden, and
Chelsea Coleman all found the back of the net once, while Anderson collected an assist as well.
Julia Koterwas and
Mackenzie Bell each grabbed a pair of ground balls while Coleman caused three turnovers.
