- The RMU softball team wraps up a six-game homestand at the North Athletic Complex by returning to Horizon League play with a three-game series against Northern Kentucky. The Colonials and Norse will face off in a single game Friday, April 7, at 3:00 p.m. before playing a doubleheader Saturday, April 8, with first pitch at 1:00 p.m.
 
- The Colonials are 2-1 on their current homestand after falling to Pitt, 6-0, Tuesday afternoon. Five different pitchers for the Panthers held RMU to a pair of hits, including a single in the first from Charlotte Grover and a single in the second by junior Faith Miller.
 
- To open its six-game homestand, RMU swept a non-conference doubleheader from Kent State (4/2), earning a 4-1 win in the first game before completing the sweep with a 5-3 triumph in game two.
 
- In a 4-1 win over the Golden Flashes to open the doubleheader, sophomore Anna Resnik finished 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI. Resnik leads the Horizon League this season in times hit by pitch (5) with Jen Krizka of Oakland.
 
- Both Jane Garver and Madison DeVault picked up victories from the circle for RMU in the sweep of Kent State, while Dana Vatakis posted saves in both ends of the doubleheader, her second and third of the 2023 season. Vatakis sits atop the #HLSB leaderboard in saves.
 
- RMU returns five starters from a 2022 squad that finished with an overall record of 31-21 (.596), including a ledger of 16-9 (.640) in the Horizon League. The Colonials advanced to the championship game of the 2022 #HLSB Tournament in posting their first 30-win season since 2013.
 
- The Colonials are led by head coach Jexx Varner, who is in his fifth season at the helm of the program. He has posted a record of 90-103 (.466) but since joining the Horizon League RMU has notched an overall record of 68-55 (.553), including a mark of 38-25 (.603) in league play.
 
- In a poll of Horizon League head coaches, the Colonials were picked to finish second in the league in 2023. Oakland was tabbed as the favorite and received eight first-place votes in accruing 77 points, while RMU earned a first-place tally and compiled 68 points.
 
- RMU heads to Youngstown, Ohio, for a three-game series at Youngstown State after taking on Northern Kentucky. The Colonials and Penguins play a doubleheader Tuesday, April 11, at 3:00 p.m. before wrapping up the series Wednesday, April 12, with a 3:00 p.m. single game.

The All-Time Series (Northern Kentucky) – RMU owns a 4-2 (.667) edge in an all-time series with the Norse that began in 2017. Last season the Colonials took three of four from NKU, including a 2-1 triumph in an elimination game at the 2022 Horizon League Tournament in Youngstown, Ohio. In that contest former pitcher Taylor Rhinehart scattered four hits in allowing just an earned run and striking out seven to help propel the Colonials to the championship game of the tourney.
 
Home Cooking – Junior Charlotte Grover has hit safely in each of RMU's three games during its current homestand and overall at home in 2023 leads the Colonials with a .417 average (5-for-12) with two runs, three RBI, a double and a triple. Since going 0-for-3 in the first game of a doubleheader @ Akron (3/21), Grover has reached base safely in each of RMU's last six games, producing a .571/.650/.786 slash line. Overall in 2023 Grover ranks in the top 10 in the Horizon League in on-base percentage (.407), on-base plus slugging (.834), RBI (16) and walks (15).
 
Zero Res – While Charlotte Grover has reached base safely in six consecutive games, sophomore Anna Resnik extended her streak to 14 straight by drawing a pair of walks against Pitt (4/4). During that span Resnik has reached base exactly 50 percent of the time while also compiling 13 hits, 11 runs and 10 RBI. In addition to sitting atop the #HLSB leaderboard in times hit by pitch (5), Resnik sits ninth in the circuit in on-base percentage (.400), just behind Grover (.407). Arguably the most impressive statistic for Resnik so far during the 2023 season, however, is that with a runner on third and less than two outs, she is 6-for-7 (.857) at the dish.
 
The Notebook – RMU is 12-2 (.857) this season when scoring three or more runs but 0-13 when scoring two runs or less … Junior Charlotte Grover is RMU's active leader in games played (111), starts (111) and consecutive starts (89) … Sophomore Alaina Koutsogiani leads the Horizon League in stolen bases (16) and is four thefts shy of tying the RMU career record of 58 … Senior Avery Winchell leads the Horizon League in putouts (197), while Grover tops the circuit in assists (62) and is followed among #HLSB leaders by Koutsogiani (59) and junior Anna Resnik (50).
