Detroit, Mich. – The Robert Morris women's lacrosse team captured an 18-10 victory at Detroit Mercy on Saturday evening in Mid-American Conference (MAC) action at Titan Field.
With the win, the Colonials improve to 2-1 in league play while holding a 4-7 mark overall. Meanwhile, the Titans slip to 2-7 this season, with a record of 1-2 in conference action.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Robert Morris came out firing on all cylinders, netting five consecutive goals to begin the contest. Sophomore 
Jenna Irwin opened the scoring just 54 seconds in before taking a feed from graduate student 
Kelsey Nelson and scoring her second goal of the first quarter. Senior 
Colleen Tifft extended the Colonials lead with a free-position opportunity as junior 
Lilli Hadden carded her first score, 4-0. After a successful clear by RMU, Tifft found the back of the net for the second time in the opening frame. Detroit Mercy would get on the board at the 1:26 mark as the Colonials held a 5-1 advantage after one.
RMU continued to roll in the second quarter, scoring three straight goals. Sophomore 
Chelsea Coleman started the streak while Tifft recorded a hat trick in the first half. Graduate student 
Bailey Christianson tallied her second goal of the season in the seventh minute. The Titans responded with a score of their own before Senior 
Julia Koterwas stretched the RMU lead off an assist from graduate student 
Emilie Kim, 9-2. Detroit Mercy would tally a goal before the end of the half as the Colonials held a 9-3 advantage at the break.
In the second half, the two squads mirrored each other in the third, scoring three goals apiece. With just under four minutes remaining, Hadden took a pass from Christianson and found the back of the net to stretch the RMU lead. After Coleman executed a free-position shot, Nelson beat goalkeeper Kayleigh Aitken as the Colonials held a 15-7 advantage heading into the final frame. In the fourth, each team found the back of the net three times as Coleman, Koterwas, and Hadden helped RMU keep its distance and secure the win.
THE QUARTET
Four different Colonials registered a hat trick during the win. 
Lilli Hadden paced the team by tying her career-high in points and setting a career-best in goals. She tallied four goals on six shots while collecting an assist. 
Julia Koterwas found the back of the net three times while placing four shots on goal. 
Colleen Tifft netted three scores while collecting four draw controls as 
Chelsea Coleman scored three times, won three draw controls, and snatched two ground balls in the win. The Colonials led in almost every statistical category, firing 40 total shots to Detroit Mercy's 22. RMU held a 34-18 edge in shots on goal while placing eight or more on net in every quarter.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Jenna Irwin registered two scores, one ground ball and caused one turnover while Nelson finished with three total points, tallying two assists and one goal. 
Bailey Christianson carded a season-high three points, collecting a pair of assists and a goal. Junior 
Olivia Rupert recorded her second career goal as 
Jordan Anderson registered an assist, collected a team-high six draw controls, two ground balls and caused a turnover.

The Colonials return to Joe Walton Stadium on Wednesday, April 12, when they host Youngstown State for a Mid-American Conference match, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
