Colonials Rout Dragons on Homecoming

Chiccitt and Robinson Connection Guide Colonials to Victory

Moon Township, Pa. – RMU came back home Saturday afternoon and managed to control all aspects of their homecoming game by defeating UVA-Lynchburg, 46-0. The Colonials improved to 2-2 on the young season as UVA-Lynchburg falls to 0-4 after today's contest.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
After a quick three-and-out from the Colonials defense to start the game, RMU took control and scored touchdowns on four straight possessions. With just over a minute left in the first quarter RMU maintained a 28-0 lead thanks to an aggressive passing attack. Anthony Chiccitt started the game 4-4 for 153 yards and two touchdowns with two of those completions over 60 yards. UVA-Lynchburg was never able to gain traction on either side of the ball due to RMU's high octane playing style and willingness to keep their foot on the gas pedal.

SHUTOUT SEASON

The Colonials achieved their first shutout since September 16th, 2017 when they shutdown VMI at Joe Walton Stadium. Today, RMU's defense spread the love as there were five separate players who recorded at least one sack on the afternoon. Tyler King, Bradley McGee, Daunte Body, Tizlam Muhammad, and Noah Steverson all collected sacks as they continued to wreak havoc on CJ Brooks thorughout the day. The Colonials defense held the Dragons offense to 57 total yards on 52 plays with an astounding average of 1.1 yards per play. RMU was able to get off the field when it mattered as the Dragons only converted two of their third down opportunities on 13 tries.

QUOTABLE

"All the things we wanted to do better we did better today" head coach Bernard Clark, Jr., said. "We only gave up 57 total yards and on top of that held them to zero points, so regardless of who your opponent is you got to make sure you're building momentum each week that you're training for the next opponent and we trained well this week and it showed."

RECEIVING PARTY

Noah Robinson led the Colonial charge as he collected six catches for 139 yards and a touchdown, but he was joined by the rest of the receiving core on what was a very productive day. Andre Cooper, Landen Lucas, Chaese Jackson, and Kimon O'Sullivan all reeled in touchdown catches along with Robinson as they caused mismatches on the Dragons defense all game long. Robinson now leads RMU with four touchdowns on the season as well as averaging just over 100 yards a game for the Colonials.

QUOTABLE

"We can't make some of the mistakes we made today against the good opponents we go up against" head coach Bernard Clark, Jr., said. "We got a good opponent coming in here next week that we have to get ready for in all facets of the game."

ALL AROUND PERFORMANCE

The box score from today's contest favors both the Colonials offense and defense as the home team had 534 total yards of offense and 57 yards allowed on the defensive side. RMU only had to punt the ball one time today but had the Dragons reeling on most of their offensive possessions as they had to end their drives with punts on nine of their possessions. On offense the Colonials had 22 first downs with 10 of those being passing and nine in the rushing category making for a very balanced attack.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Just like two weeks ago at Joe Walton Stadium, Chiccitt had another great performance as he was 11 of 16 for 251 yards and a career-high four touchdown passes. Defensively, the Colonials were led by linebacker Joe Casale, who posted seven tackles, including five solo.
