Moon Township, Pa. – RMU men's basketball Pat Gallagher head coach Andrew Toole announced the 2023-24 non-conference schedule on Wednesday, which features a pair of Big Ten opponents, a Big East foe, and seven contests at the UPMC Events Center.

The Colonials will open their 48th season of NCAA Division I men's basketball with an exhibition game against Penn State at the UPMC Events Center Friday, Oct. 27. Proceeds from the exhibition between the Colonials and Nittany Lions will support the American Cancer Society as part of Coaches vs. Cancer for cancer research and programs. The 2023-24 regular season begins Monday, Nov. 6, with RMU traveling to Cincinnati, Ohio, to take on Xavier at the Cintas Center.

RMU will return to the UPMC Events Center for its home opener when it welcomes Point Park on Thursday, Nov. 9, before hitting the road for a pair of away contests. The Colonials will travel to Towson on Sunday, Nov. 12, while heading to Madison, Wisc., on Friday, Nov. 17, to battle the Badgers of Wisconsin at the Kohl Center.

"We are excited to announce our 2023-24 non-conference schedule," Toole Said. "As always, we look to challenge ourselves as best we can to prepare for the difficulty of the Horizon League season. We are excited to have a great balance of home and road games, including hosting a home MTE, for the first time since I have been at RMU."

The Colonials return back to Moon Township to host the Urban-Bennett Memorial Classic, as they'll clash with Jacksonville on Friday, Nov. 24, before entertaining Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday, Nov. 26. Also on the non-conference schedule for RMU in 2023-24, is a trip to Canisius (Dec. 6) and back-to-back home contests with Delaware (Dec. 11) and Saint Vincent (Dec. 17).

The final road tilt of the non-conference slate for RMU will be at Saint Francis (Dec. 20) while wrapping up the non-conference portion with a home meeting against Cornell (Dec. 22).

The 2023-24 season officially gets underway Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 7:00 p.m. with Madness at the UPMC Events Center. Fans can be introduced to the Colonials of the men's and women's basketball program with a special event to kickoff the season.
