Opening Kick-Off
- After an extended Labor Day weekend, the Robert Morris men's soccer team is back to action, as they travel back to the middle of the state to play Saint Francis University.
- Last time out, the Colonials took down the Bison's of Bucknell, 3-2.
- A big first half proved to be the difference, as RMU hammered in three goals. Kai McLoughlin ripped in his first of the year off a nice pass by Anass Hadran into space. Gabe Norris followed up with his second goal of the campaign. And, senior Chase Gilley recorded his first goal of the year, which would go down as the game-winner in Lewisburg, Pa.
- Through three games, both the Colonials and Red Flash are both undefeated.
- In the first game of the season, head coach Jonathan Potter, along with his assistants Abraham Lopez-Mendoza and Austin Gorman, earned their first victory for RMU, beating VMI, 5-0.
- In 2022, sophomore Victor Koah was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team. As a first-year, the English native produced two goals and two assists. Last month, Koah scored the first goal of the season for the Colonials.
- Last year, midfielder Connor Hain was tabbed to the Horizon League All-Academic Team.
- Senior Chase Gilley was awarded Offensive Player of the Week on two occasions in the 2022 season.

The All-Time Series (Saint Francis) – Since 1991, these two teams have faced one another on 32 occasions. A former rival in the NEC, the battle against the Red Flash has been very competitive since the beginning of the program. Overall, both teams' have a 15-15-2 (.500) record against each other. Chase Gilley set up his brother
Logan Gilley in the third minute. That was the only goal RMU needed, as they went on to win 1-0. RMU's longest win streak vs. the Red Flash came early on in the program's existence. From 1994 to 1996, the Colonials went on a three-game run, outscoring Saint Francis, 15-3. Dating back to 1991 when RMU's program began, they've played SFU 32 times in 32 years of D1 competition. The Colonials have faced the Red Flash more than any other program.

Scouting the Red Flash – A year ago in 2022, Saint Francis finished with a 6-6-4 overall record. In the NEC, they finished with a 3-2-3 record. Making it into the NEC first round of the playoffs, the Red Flash's season ended with a loss to Sacred Heart, 1-0. Their leading goal scorer from last year's campaign, Nico Stoddart, graduated in 2022, posting three goals and two assists. Maximus Rigby returns for his junior year, as he led the team in assists with four. In net, the German Jordaine Jaeger earned the starting spot as a freshman. Coming into this game, he's played in 19 total games, making 85 saves and winning seven games. So far, through three games in the 2023 season, the Red Flash are being led by a duo of freshmen. Joschi Schelb has recorded the most points with one goal and three assists (5 points), and Alvaro Planas leads the team in goals scored with two. Led by Mads Kaiser in his first year as head coach of the program, the team laces up for the Colonials after playing three tight battles. They started the year off with a 2-1 victory over Canisius, followed by a 1-1 tie with Fordham. In their most recent game, SFU took on a Horizon League member, Wright State, tying the Raiders in a high-scoring affair, 3-3.

SCOPING OUT THE HORIZON
Looking at the Horizon League statistics, the Colonials are ranked first in the conference in goals with nine, and averaging three per game.
Gabe Norris is currently ranked second in goals with two, and freshman
Tim Koczulap owns the second most assists in the conference with two. Defensively, RMU has only given up three goals on the year, which is tied for second across the conference.
