MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - In their final non-conference series of the season, the Colonials fell to Minnesota, 4-2 and 4-1. RMU is now 6-15-3 overall. Minnesota moves up to 12-6-4 overall in the 2023-24 campaign.
GAME 1
1st PERIOD
- Four minutes into Friday night's game, the Colonials took an early lead in Minneapolis. From the point,
Gabriel Lunn threw a shot on target, tipped in by freshman
Cameron Garvey for the first goal of the game.
- The home side immediately responded scoring two goals within the next two minutes to take a 2-1 lead.
2nd PERIOD
- Throughout the middle frame, the Gophers scored one goal to head into the final period, up 3-1.
3rd PERIOD
- With four minutes left, Minnesota extended the score to 4-1.

Rylee St. Onge recorded his team leading fourth power play goal of the season before the game ended on the power-play.
Luke Johnson and
Tanner Klimpke assisted on the goal.

Mitch Andres recorded a team-high three blocks. Eating up a ton of minutes on the penalty kill, Andres leads the squad in blocks this season (46). In net,
Francis Boisvert registered a career high 53 saves on the night.

Luke Johnson chimed in on both of RMU's goals, dishing out two assists. From Edina, Minn., the alternate captain now owns seven points this season (1-6—7). He owns four goals, 13 assists and 17 points in his career.
GAME 2
1st PERIOD
- The Gophers scored the first goal of the night as Mason Nevers cashed in right before the media timeout.

Chad Veltri posted 16 saves in the first period.
2nd PERIOD
- Minnesota poured in two more goals in the middle frame, including one finish with the man-advantage.
- The Colonials scored their one goal of the game with four minutes left in the period. On the counterattack, freshman
George Krotiris used his speed down the left wing. His shot created a rebound, bouncing out to
Walter Zacher who would slam in his fifth goal of the campaign.
3rd PERIOD
- Jimmy Snuggerud gave the Gophers one more goal, and went on to win the second leg of the series, 4-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Defensemen
Luke van Why and
Trevor LeDonne both finished the night with a team-high +1. In his third career game, van Why registered four blocks, leading all skaters on both sides. Graduate forward
Dallas Tulik won six of 11 faceoffs. In goal,
Chad Veltri faced 44 shots, making 40 saves. It was his sixth game this season he registered 40 or more saves in a contest.
