RMU LATELY
RMU (6-12, 2-5 HL) got an overtime buzzer beater from
Markeese Hastings in its 91-88 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne January 12. The Colonials have won two of three games and are 5-5 at home this season.
DETROIT MERCY LATELY
Detroit Mercy (0-18, 0-6 HL) is one of two winless NCAA teams, joining Mississippi Valley State (0-17). The Titans are coming off three consecutive home losses to Green Bay, Milwaukee and Northern Kentucky. UDM is 0-12 on the road this year.

The schools first met in 2009 at the 2K Sports Classic in Albany, N.Y. They did not play each other again until 2021 when RMU joined the Horizon League. Including the neutral site game, UDM won the first six contests until RMU's victory on January 27, 2023

Former NBA forward Earl Cureton began his collegiate career at RMU before transferring to Detroit Mercy after the 1977 season. The same holds true for Bacari Alexander who played two seasons for the Colonials before transferring to Detroit Mercy in 1996. Alexander earned 1995 NEC All-Newcomer honors. Alexander would be the Titans head coach for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

RMU hits the road for four straight contests beginning Saturday, January 20 at IUPUI. They will have stops at Cleveland State Sunday, January 28. The Colonials then face Oakland Thursday, February 1 and wrap up the trip at Detroit Mercy Saturday, February 3. RMU returns to the UPMC Events Center Thursday, February 8 against Green Bay.
