Boisvert and Klimpke Garner AHA Weekly Honors

Both players earn first career weekly award

BOSTON, Mass. – Graduate goaltender Francis Boisvert and freshman forward Tanner Klimpke were awarded weekly awards by the AHA conference, announced by the league office today, Monday afternoon.

Boisvert was named AHA Goaltender of the Week and Klimpke was tabbed AHA Rookie of the Week. For both players, this is their first career weekly award.

Starting in net in game one at AIC this past weekend, Boisvert helped lead the Colonials to a 2-0 win on the road, by posting his first career win and shutout.

From Blainville, Quebec, Boisvert faced 50 shots and saved all of them. 11 of those saves came on the penalty-kill. 50 saves go down as Boisvert's second-most stops in one game. He recorded 53 at Minnesota (1/12) earlier in the month.

Boisvert also made history in the Atlantic Hockey conference as he became the fourth netminder to record 50 or more saves with a shutout. Eric Levine accomplished this for RMU in 2012, posting a 51-save shutout vs. Miami (Ohio) in the 2012-13 season.

Freshman forward Tanner Klimpke also played a huge role in Friday night's 2-0 victory over AIC.

Klimpke sniped in the team's first goal of the game on the power-play that would end up going down as the game-winning goal.

This was Klimpke's fourth power-play goal of the season and first career game-winner.

Later in the game, Klimpke provided a primary assist on McKay Hayes's goal, pushing RMU to a 2-0 victory in Springfield, Mass.

In the 2023-24 campaign, the forward out of Calgary, Alberta leads the Colonials in goals and points (8-9—17) in 26 games played.

This is RMU's fifth weekly award of the season:
Rookie of the Week – Tanner Klimpke (1), Walter Zacher (1)
Goaltender of the Week – Chad Veltri (2), Francis Boisvert (1)

On deck, RMU's next upcoming conference series will be against in-state rival Mercyhurst. The first game will be played in Erie, Pa., followed up by the series finale at Clearview Arena in Moon Township, Pa. The two-game set is scheduled to be played February 2-3 with both games at 7:00 PM.
