MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU volleyball team fell in straight sets this evening against the Cleveland State Vikings in conference action.
With the loss, the Colonials fall to 8-14, 3-8 HL while the Vikings improve to 16-6, 7-4 HL.
KEY SET MOMENTS
- The first set was a battle of the offenses as both squads combined for 36 kills. To start the set, each team exchanged points until the Colonials went on an 8-3 run when they already had a 14-12 lead. However, with RMU leading 21-15 it was Cleveland State who erupted and went on a 12-4 run to take the set.
- Cleveland State continued to control the offensive tempo to begin the set as the visitors jumped out to a 13-5 lead. The Colonials couldn't keep up on offense as they had a .091 hit percentage in the set. RMU was almost able to come back thanks to pivotal kills from Hillarie Adams and Natalie Stepanovich but it wasn't enough as the Vikings took the set 25-21.
- Both teams were ready for the third set continuously exchanging points up until the score was tied at 15. Cleveland State would go onto score six out of the next eight points to take a 20-17 lead. The Colonials would try to battle back but couldn't go on the run they hoped for and would fall, 25-21.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Hillarie Adams led the Colonials with 12 kills while
Jasmine Purakal led the squad with 22 digs.
Azra Eric led RMU with two blocks as well as two aces.

The Colonials will have a short turnaround as they'll travel to play Youngstown State on Tuesday evening. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.
