RMU Women's Soccer Hosts YSU for Regular Season Finale

Colonials look to secure #HLWSOC quarterfinal match at home

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – After clinching a playoff berth with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Wright State, the RMU women's soccer team (5-5-6, 4-2-3 #HLWSOC) returns to host Youngstown State for their regular season finale this Wednesday, October 30 at 3:00 PM. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with commentary by Spencer Witt and Joey Jirmasek.

RECENT FORM
RMU's recent win over Wright State, highlighted by Paloma Swankler's game-winning goal with just 30 seconds left, secured a Horizon League playoff spot for the Colonials for the second straight season. Swankler, who assisted Taylor Day on the game-tying goal, now ranks fourth in the conference with 16 points (6g, 4a). In that same game, graduate forward Haleigh Finale became the program's all-time leader in games played with 82 appearances.

MILESTONE WATCH
Graduate goalkeeper Brenna Murray is just three saves away from reaching 200 in her career. The Raleigh, N.C. native has accumulated 20 wins and 11 shutouts in her career.

IRONWOMAN
Junior captain Jillian Marvin has been a fixture on defense, starting all 16 games and logging every minute of the season. The Peters Township, Pa. defender has played a total of 1,440 minutes and contributed three assists.

PLAYOFF POSITIONING
The Colonials have officially clinched a Horizon League playoff berth. With a win over Youngstown State or a tie or loss from IU Indy, RMU will secure the No. 4 seed, hosting a quarterfinal match. A loss combined with an IUPUI win would make RMU the No. 5 seed.

ALL-TIME VS. YOUNGSTOWN STATE
Since 1996, RMU leads the series against YSU with a 15-9-1 record, averaging 1.88 goals per game and holding 10 shutouts. Last season, the Colonials defeated YSU 2-1 in their regular season finale, marking their first-ever qualification for the Horizon League Tournament. Swankler scored the game-winner in the 77th minute. Finale also owns two career goals against the Penguins.

SCOUTING YOUNGSTOWN STATE
YSU (4-11-2, 2-7-0 #HLWSOC) enters Wednesday's game on a four-game losing streak in conference play.
