RMU Women's Hockey Set to Host Bemidji State

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. The RMU women's hockey team prepares for their second series of the 2024-25 season, hosting Bemidji State on Friday, October 4 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, October 5 at 3:00 PM at Clearview Arena. Both games will be broadcast live on FloHockey, with Gero von Dehn and Bob Kennedy providing commentary.
 
RECENT FORM
RMU (1-1-0, 0-0-0 #AHA) opened the season at home, splitting their series against Union. In the first game, RMU triumphed 3-1, with graduate forward Veronica Bac and sophomore defenseman Thalia D'Elia each posting three points. Janelle Evans, Alaina Giampietro, and Jersey Phillips also notched assists. Maggie Hatch secured her first win with 32 saves and a .970 save percentage.
 
In the second game, RMU fell 4-2. Defenseman Emma Goding scored her first career goal, while Bac added another goal. Maddy Coene contributed two assists, with Ashlyn Ham and Giampietro also assisting. In net, Lucy Phillips made her first appearance, recording 33 saves. Bac and D'Elia earned AHA weekly honors as Bac was named the conference's Forward of the Week and D'Elia tabbed Defenseman of the Week. 
 
BAC N' ROLL
Veronica Bac has started the 2024-25 season strong, tallying three goals and one assist. She currently leads the AHA in goals (3), power-play goals (3), and points (4). She's also excelled in the faceoff circle, winning 61.4% of her draws (27 of 44). Bac now has 17 career goals, five assists and 22 points.
 
BLOCK PARTY
Under head coach Logan Bittle, RMU led the conference last season with 559 blocks, averaging 15.97 per game. In their home opener against Union, the Colonials blocked 30 shots, their second-highest total under Bittle. The team's highest total was 36 blocks in a 2-1 win over Mercyhurst in January of 2024.
 
ALL-TIME VS. BEMIDJI STATE
RMU and Bemidji State have met 13 times since 2007, with RMU holding a 3-9-1 record. In their last meeting during the 2024 Battle At The Burgh Tournament, Bemidji State won 3-1. RMU's lone goal came from Janelle Evans, assisted by Madison Primeau on a power play.
 
SCOUTING BEMIDJI STATE
Bemidji State (0-2-0, 0-2-0 #WCHA) opened their season against #5 Ohio State, losing 8-2 and 3-0. Six players have recorded a point for the Beavers so far. Last season, Bemidji State finished 4-30-2 overall and were eliminated by Ohio State in the WCHA Playoff quarterfinals.
 
UP NEXT
Following this series, RMU hits the road for the first time, heading to Potsdam, N.Y., to face Clarkson on October 11-12.
 
SKATE WITH THE COLONIALS
Friday night's game features the "Skate with the Colonials" event, where fans can skate with the RMU players for 30 minutes after the game at Clearview Arena.
