MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa.  – Amarion Dickerson set a new school record with seven blocks as RMU (2-2) defeated Stonehill (1-3) 63-51 in the first game of the Urban-Bennett Invitational MTE Hosted by P3R at the UPMC Events Center.
 
1^st HALF
A pair of Josh Omojafo free throws gave the Colonials an eight point lead at 18-10 at the midway point of the 1^st half. Dickerson's free throws at 3:20 gave RMU its largest lead of the half at 25-16. Stonehill's Hermann Koffi closed out the 1^st half scoring with a 3-point that sent the game into halftime with the Colonials leading 29-25.
 
2^nd HALF
RMU saw its first double-figure lead at 15:12 of the 2^nd half when Ismael Plet's and-1 made the score 44-34. Todd Brogna's foul shots at 4:34 cut the Colonials' lead to six points at 55-49 before they scored the next eight points to take a 14-point advantage at 63-49.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Dickerson broke the previous record held by Elijah Minnie with six blocks on January 23, 2016 at Bryant. Only Gabe Dynes of Youngstown State and Alex Karaban of UConn have recorded seven blocks this season. He finished the game with 10 points and seven rebounds. Omojafo scored a team-high 15 points and Plet added 11. Alvaro Folgueiras pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds, which tied his season-best.
 
UP NEXT
The second night of the Urban-Bennett Invitational MTE Hosted by P3R begins at 4 p.m. on Friday and sees New Orleans (1-2) and Stonehill (1-3) square off in the opener while the Colonials face Lindenwood (1-2)at 7 p.m. On the final day, Sunday, November 17, Stonehill and Lindenwood will start things off before RMU and New Orleans closes the event.
