MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's hockey team fell to conference rival, Mercyhurst 5-0 on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Colonials to 5-8-1 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play.
FIRST PERIOD
- The Colonials saw some of their best opportunities in this frame with eight shots on goal including two of those on a powerplay that didn't result in a goal.
- Redshirt sophomore Maggie Hatch was busy in net this period as she had a game-high 23 saves in the first to help keep the game scoreless.
SECOND PERIOD
- The Lakers offense woke up this period as they scored four goals with three of those coming in a four-minute span. RMU was outshot 13-1 in the frame as they entered the final period trailing by four.
THIRD PERIOD
- In the final period, Mercyhurst added one more goal as they continued to pepper Hatch in net with 22 shots on goal.
- The Colonials were outshot 63-12 in the defeat and were shut out in both games against Mercyhurst this weekend.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Colonials went 0-for-3 on the power-play as they had one extra player opportunity in each period.
Jersey Phillips led the offense for RMU as she had a team-high four shots along with six faceoff wins. Sophomore
Kaitlyn Schooley tied her career-high with seven blocked shots in today's contest as the last occasion was against Princeton on October 18th. In net,
Maggie Hatch established a new career-high with 58 saves as her previous high was 50 against Minnesota State last season.

The Colonials will have a short road trip next weekend when they battle Penn State at University Park. Puck drop is scheduled for next Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.
