MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU (7-5, 4-2 NEC) used a 21-pont 1
st quarter to wrap up its 2024 season with a 31-13 victory over Stonehill (1-10, 0-6 NEC) on Saturday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium.
The opening frame was the
Shawn Charles show. He put the Colonials on the board at 10:32 with a career-long 86-yard touchdown reception from
Zach Tanner. He would add a 51-yard touchdown reception at 3:14 after
DJ Moyer's 1-yard scoring run.
The Skyhawks would close the gap to 21-10 at halftime and add a field goal at 6:35 of the 3
rd quarter to make it a one-possession contest. A
Jayson Jenkins 25-yard field goal made the score 24-13 at 10:51 of the 4
th quarter and the RMU closed out the game scoring when
Jamar Shegog sacked Drew Eason in the end zone forcing a fumble that was recovered by
Turner Schmidt.
Charles finished with four catches for 149 yards. Tanner threw for a career-high 268 yards. On defense, Shegog finished with a career-high 19 tackles, one shy of the school record, with four being for loss.
Keon Freeman added nine stops.
