MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – First place is on the line Saturday afternoon when RMU (6-3, 3-0 NEC) travels to crosstown rival No. 25/24 Duquesne (6-2, 3-0 NEC) at Rooney Field Kickoff is at noon.
THE SERIES
Saturday marks the 22
nd installment of the series. Duquesne leads 13-8 overall, 8-4 in NEC play and 9-2 at Rooney Field. This will be the first matchup between the Colonials and Dukes since November 9, 2019 when RMU defeated Duquesne 41-21 at Joe Walton Stadium. The series began in RMU's inaugural season in 1994 with games in 1995, 1996 and 1998. The teams played 17 straight seasons from 2003 until 2019.
BIG MOMENTS AGAINST DUQUESNE
- November 23, 1996 - Robert Morris won the ECAC Bowl with a 28-26 victory at Rooney Field ending the Dukes' 19-game winning streak, which dated back to a 38-20 loss to RMU in 1995
- November 15, 2003 - In the program's 100th game, quarterback Rich Demaio, gets the only start of his collegiate career, establishes single-game school records for completions (33) and passing yards (444)
- October 11, 2008 - Myles Russ establishes an RMU single-game record for rushing attempts with 37, compiling 246 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 34-27 win
- October 30, 2010 - Russ scores on a six-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter to become the program's all-time leading rusher in a 34-11 win passing Sam Dorsett
