RMU Men's Hockey Travels to RIT for Conference Matchup

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's hockey team heads to Rochester, N.Y., for a two-game series against RIT this weekend. The first game is set for Friday, December 6, at 7:00 PM, followed by the finale on Saturday, December 7, at 5:00 PM. Fans can catch Friday's action live on SportsNet Pittsburgh, while Saturday's game will air on SportsNet Pittsburgh+. Both games will also stream on FloHockey.
 
RECENT FORM
RMU (5-6-2, 2-4-1 AHA) is coming off a series split against AIC. The Colonials showcased offensive depth in the series, with six different players finding the back of the net. Highlights included freshman Connor Gourley scoring his first career goal and sophomore Cameron Garvey netting the Teddy Bear Toss goal. Junior goaltender Dylan Meilun started both games and surpassed 1,000 career saves.
 
Defenseman Michael Craig has been a key contributor this season, averaging a point per game (3 goals, 10 assists, 13 points) to lead the team. Sophomore forward Walter Zacher leads in goals with seven, while Cameron Garvey and defensemen Luke van Why and Gabriel Lunn have been defensive stalwarts, each recording over 20 blocked shots.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Dating back to 2005, RMU holds a 15-24-6 record against RIT. The Colonials are seeking their first win over the Tigers since 2021.
 
SCOUTING RIT
The Tigers (3-13-1, 2-7-1 AHA) enter the series aiming to snap a three-game losing streak, having recently been swept by New Hampshire and falling in a single game to Canisius. Sophomore forward Tyler Fukakusa leads RIT offensively with 18 points (4 goals, 14 assists), while Simon Isabelle tops the team in goals with seven. On defense, Dimitri Mikrogiannakis has been a standout with 37 blocked shots. In net, Jakub Krbecek has made 11 appearances, earning three wins with a .897 save percentage.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
After the RIT series, RMU will close out the 2024 calendar year with a two-game series at Canisius, scheduled for December 14-15.
