DAYTON, Oh. – The RMU Colonials women's basketball team fell short on the road at Wright State, 76-68. With the loss, RMU falls to 6-20 overall and 2-16 in Horizon League play while Wright State moves to 16-13 on the season and 10-8 in conference action.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
RMU started the game on a fast track as the away team jumped out to a 12-6 lead against the Raiders. The Colonials made five out of their first six shots to start the game, including two triples from
Danielle Vuletich and
Simone Morris to help bolster the lead. RMU shot 60 percent from the field in the opening quarter which was one of their highest totals all season in a single quarter.
The second half was a complete back and forth battle as there was nine lead changes throughout the game. Late in the fourth quarter the tide started to switch in favor of Wright State as the Raiders went on a 9-0 run with the score tied at 64 and 1:31 remaining in the game. A few turnovers and missed shots combined with the clock winding down didn't mix well with the Colonials in the final minute as RMU battled but came up short in the end.
STEALS GALORE
The Colonials collected their second-highest steals total of the season as they finished the game with 13 steals against Wright State.
Rebecca Dwomoh led RMU with five steals as that tied Alex Mastral's team-highs that she had earlier in the year against IUPUI and Bucknell.
Simone Morris,
Danielle Vuletich and
Natalie Johnson each tallied two steals to help RMU in the takeaway department. The 13 team steals is second only to the season-high 15 steals that the Colonials had against Bucknell on November 24, 2023.
